awesome people

New Year's was awesome. I got to see my friends Pam and Andrew Rodriguez and their two children Alex and Jengie (who still calls me "La-La"!) for New Year's Eve and a good chunck of New Year's Day. Then Chris and I had a late breakfast/lunch/early dinner with Marla and Isaac at Cracker Barrel. Good food + great friend = unbeatable!!Guys, I can't put into words what it meant to get to see you again! You all REALLY make me miss Nashville!!! It was really great catching up and hearing about everyone else! I seriously need to find a way to get down there more often, it's just harder when you're married and your husband would rather do projects around the house than take a road trip! You have both been such a blessing in my life, and I'm a better person by knowing you.I hope you guys (and everyone!) have an extremely blessed new year!!So, I'm sure I'm not the only one who had an awesome time ringing in the New Year. What did you do?

I'm going to be an aunt!!!

Ok, so my husband's brother already has two daughters, but MY TWIN SISTER IS PREGNANT!!!!!What a GREAT Christmas present, eh!? They found out the day before their flight that she was pregnant, and didn't tell any of HIS family (my sister and her husband and his family live in Canada), and waited until I was in Paintsville before telling me and my other sister, Bethany. Apparently, Mom and Dad took Chris and Rebecca (yes, her husband and my husband are both named Chris) to a Dr. that my dad knew and asked if they could get a blood test to be sure. The Dr.'s assistant took them back to a room and did an ultrasound, even though she's only a few weeks along. I wasn't there, but Mom and Dad both cried when they heard the rapid little heartbeat. They have pictures, too!!HOW they told each of us is kind of funny, too. The night they arrived in Paintsville, Rebecca, Chris, Mom and Dad were playing a card game. At the end, when they were adding up the scores, Chris said something a...

new tree!

Chris bought a tool for his motorcycle the other day at Sears and got a $50-off coupon for a 7' pre-lit Christmas tree. So last night, we got to go tree shopping. YAY! The one we used last year (and that he's apparently been using for the last few years before I showed up) actually belongs to his grandmother. We bought a really pretty tree! Of course, the decorations were not included. I bought all new decorations last year after Christmas when Macy's had them on clearance. (The BEST time to buy Christmas decorations is a few days after Christams!)Here's the tree:The bulbs are pretty unique. We really liked them, and they're the reason we paid extra for this tree, when the one in the pic above to the right is the other tree we were considering is $100 less. Fortunately, we found a string of the same kind of lights and bought those, too, so we'll have 100 replacement bulbs for future use! Here are the cool light bulbs: Hope you guys have a great Wednesday!Happy...

How many of you crazy people went out shopping on Black Friday (or at any time this weekend)? What were the best deals? I decided that I'd been out on Black Friday enough in my life and needed a break. Of course, I've always been on the other side of the counter...Big shout out to any of you who had to WORK on Black Friday. I hope to never have to do it again!!

Wednesday, I took my dad to the VA Hospital to get a shot in his elbow, splints for his fingers and an X-ray. (It's not as bad as it sounds, he just has arthritis.) On the way out, we passed rows and rows of pictures of men and women in uniform who had received treatment at that facility. This picture that Dad pointed out was really cool because not only does he have the same last name (my maiden name), but he has a STRONG resemblance to my dad's dad and his family. Here's Uncle Wilbert: (I don't know if he's really an uncle, I'm just saying that!)

busy, busy, busy (found my phone...added pics)

Halloween was fun. Didn't have plans until Thurs night when Chris' mom gave me a pumpkin to carve. Carved Homestar Runner into my pumpkin and will post a pic as soon as I find my phone...My impression of Homestar Runner. The brim of his hat broke off, so just use your imagination!Went to the coffee shop down the street to enjoy watching the little kids walk past in their costumes. This one family came in and saw some friends of theirs. Their little 5 year old boy walked up, all cute in his lion costume, and the friend said, "Show me your lion roar!" and the little boy climbed up on the chair, clenched his hands into little fists and gave her a roar for all he was worth!! I could NOT stop laughing!! The mom apologized profousely to all 6 of us who were in the coffee shop, but I'm pretty sure we were all laughing. :)Saturday was spent at the in-laws while Chris helped put up new siding. I carved another pumpkin with my nieces (of which I will also post a pic...wh...

college friends

It's always great to reconnect with long lost friends. This Saturday, I had the chance to enjoy lunch with one of my college roommates and her twin (yes! another twin!). It was great to catch up and share stories. She told me that she's single, and the last guy she dated was the guy she was with while we were roommates. She also told me that he married the girl he broke up with her for. We laughed it off and continued our conversation in another direction.I read on facebook today that he was killed in a tragic car accident this past weekend. I called to ask her if she wanted me to go to the visitation with her (it's only an hour away) and she said that she probably wouldn't go because she was afraid it would be awkward. I respect her feelings, but I'm also sad for her. It's an awkward situation. Please pray for my college roommate and the young man that was killed in the accident. For you Berea people in the area, the visitation is tonight (10/28) here. Much prayers ar...
