...it'll be my birthday. You can wish me happy birthday, if you want. And yes, this is a shameless ploy for attention.

why is it called a forecast when it's really just a predicition?

Well, the weather was far warmer, more humid, and just overall more icky than was forecasted.Christmas wearing a short sleeved shirt and jeans just isn't quite the same. We even set the air to 69 degrees and it was still hot!In other news, the dog-in-law has gotten over whatever it was that made her hate me suddenly. She barely barked at me and constantly came to me for attention and pets. So much nicer than baring fangs, growling, and lunging at me.

Bilingual

Josh Reaves works with a Spanish speaking church that meets in the building that North Gwinnett uses. We'd been talking for several months about combining our assemblies for a bilingual service. We finally got it organized and met together yesterday.I've never been a part of a bi-lingual service before so I was really curious how it was all going to work.We had all the English speakers on one side and all the Spanish speakers on the other. Anytime a prayer was said, we'd have one in English and one in Spanish. We had one lesson for the Lord's Supper that was done in English and translated in Spanish. We had one sermon that was done the same way, too. I was pretty skeptical about how the singing was going to work when I heard how they were planning it. We all sang the same song at the same time but the English side sang in English and the Spanish side sang it in Spanish. It worked really well! It was, I think, the most encouraging and edifying assembly I've been a part of...

Not a scaredy cat this time!

Just a workaholic!!Joshua left very early Monday morning for L.A. for work. He'll get back late, late, late tomorrow night.I've been better this trip as far as turning into a coward and being afraid. I don't even have my dog with me, either! She's nursing The Lurker and my dad back to health. Dad thinks they have double pneumonia...get it? They both have pneumonia so it's double...hey, that's the way the Owens family rolls...cheesy jokes.Anyway, the house has been very, very quiet. And so, I've been staying at work very, very late. I already have my 40 hours in! Luckily, I'm super busy so I have plenty to keep me here.I'm hoping to get some Christmas decorations tonight on my way home and I'm hoping I can get them put up tomorrow. We're kind of flip flopped in our house. I don't really care if we have any decorations at all. Joshua loves them. So, I thought it'd be a nice 'welcome home' surprise. Luckily, he doesn't ever read my entries here, so it won't spoil the ...

four

Four things I learned today:1. Mowing up all the leaves from a 15-year Maple tree is infinitely easier than raking them.2. Buying new pine straw to cover up the leaves in the flower beds is infinitely easier than trying to get the leaves out by hand.3. A briar bush and bare hands do NOT mix well and provide infinite amounts of pain...at least right now it seems like it's infinite.4. Doing all the above on Grape Nuts as your only meal of the day so far will leave you famished.Now...what to eat...

Thanksgiving Day Feast

The before (doesn't include the biscuits, the pumpkin cheesecake, the pumpkin pie, the pecan pie, the apple pie or the fudge). There were no afters. Partly because we forgot and partly because Joshua ate everything. Not really. He did eat a lot, though. We took at least half the leftovers home with us and by lunch yesterday they were all gone with the exception of a turkey wing. He was shooting for a five pound weight gain and was disappointed Saturday morning to discover he'd only gained one. In case anyone was wondering, I actually lost two pounds. In other news, I beat Joshua at Trivial Pursuit Saturday night. The day was marked on the calendar in my head.
