The other day, I bought Jackson a goldfish. He loves to watch the fish when we go to Walmart or the pet store, plus I already had a small tank. I also found a small crab that is supposed to be good for cleaning the bottom of the tank. So we brought them home and I set it up on our bookshelf where he can see it. I think it was the next day that I found the crab clutching the goldfish in his claws (tiny claws) and EATING HIM!! It was horrifying- Josh and I got the net and tried to grab the fish away, but the crab wouldn't let go and kept trying to grab him back. It was awful. We finally got him away and it was too late- he had to be flushed. Last night we bought a new companion for the crab- a red siamese fighter. If the crab can take him on, I guess he's the champion. But so far, they are both alive.
Today on the way back from the store, Jackson was in the back looking at his old macdonald book and I thought I heard him say "eep" then "a-a-a-a-a". I got to a stop sign, looked back and sure enough he was looking at the sheep page! It is amazing how many things he has started saying all at once, just in the last few weeks! So much more fun that he can try to tell us things instead of just whining and crying (which still happens on occasion.) =o) His birthday is coming fast- I can't wait for him to have some cake and open presents.
On another topic, I have grown tired of having hundreds of plastic grocery bags. I reuse what I can and I try to recycle them occasionally at Walmart, but I have so many! So at the grocery store, I have started taking my own. I love it! I thought it would be a hassle, but a load that usually would take about 10 plastic bags will fit in just 2 or 3 cloth ones. Kroger sells some nice ones for $.99 and I also have some other random ones. And, Kroger now gives a $0.05 discount for each bag that you bring (doesn't even have to be theirs!). Try it sometime- you might be convinced. Not to mention, it's a great thing for the earth!
Hope you are having a good day and enjoying the weather! I think we're headed to the park after naptime. |

We returned last week from a trip to Colorado- specifically Denver and Estes Park (Rocky Mountain National Park). What a beautiful place! We were in awe the entire time at everything we saw! And the weather was incredible- really put me in the holiday spirit, a couple of months early. =o)
We also were able to visit with Josh's brother Joel, and my sister-in-law. Joel just began his pediatric residency at Denver Children's. He is super busy, so we only saw him a little, but we got to spend lots of time with Lindsay. She is officially a favorite of Jackson's! He took right to her and even gave her lots of kisses! That is one of his favorite things to do now- give people kisses.
I think we are done with our travels at least for the rest of football season. We were very blessed to be able to visit so many beautiful places this summer! Now Go Ags!! |

Back home! Hard to believe that just this morning we were in beautiful Cancun, on our way back home from Costa Rica. We spent a week in a beautiful spot by the water and we got to share it with some family. The 2 little cousins had a lot of fun together, and were really good sports for all of the long plane rides and car rides. I think they are both very happy to be back in their own beds. (I hope yours is still in his bed as I write this!) We got to see lots of beautiful things and met a really sweet nicaraguan family. Between the 4 of us, we communicated pretty well! It was so fun- see for yourself! I hope you enjoy the sunset pictures as much as I do- don't you agree that Josh should go professional? =o)

My mom, Jackson, and I just returned from sunny California where we spent a few days in San Diego. It was beautiful- perfect weather! Nice to get away from the rainforest we live in. We saw some family and also did lots of sightseeing. I wish I knew how many miles we walked! a LOT.
Jackson was an angel for the whole trip- he was great on both plane rides and perfect while traveling around. He was so excited everywhere we went and smiled at everyone. We went to the zoo, the beach, and all over downtown. It was a wonderful trip!
Here he is riding the carousel in Seaport Village- just like a big boy!
