That is so inspirational! I went to school with a guy like this. You would think it was impossible to do what he did, but he did it anyway. His writing was so neat. He was amazing.
What has been happening in the Prasad household. We have been busy, busy.
Noah's birthday cake turned out okay. It wasn't what I had imagined, but it was good enough for a 4 year old. He enjoyed it none-the-less. Lots of icing did help! Thanks for the advice!
Noah is very particular on what he wears. He is into "Tattoo shirts". Well, at least, that's what he calls them. It's basically any shirt that is not plain. I'm sure this is from years of me dressing him the way I wanted. I never really did put him in prints. So whether it has a print on it or a printed pattern, it is a "Tattoo shirt". Don't know where he coined the phrase from, but it's his phrase.
Jonah had a class field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. We had a lot of fun learning about where our food comes from and feeding goats and picking a prize pumpkin to come home with!
The Montessori school does not celebrate or teach Halloween or Christmas, so it was a nice break for the kids to learn about United Nations Day. They were to dress up in an outfit from any country, march to the local park behind their school and sing songs about different countries. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the kids are still singing the songs! I can't get them out of my head now. They wait for me in my sleep and disturb my dreams with echos of sing-song like "join hands, all around the world, join hands, all around the world" aahhhh.... I have very united dreams.
Sean and I have been working on the boys room for quite some time now. The problem started with the boys getting new beds. We really couldn't do much until they came in and it took forever! After weeks and weeks of promises, they finally showed up a month later than the original given date, and one bed is damaged. But, now that the beds are here, we can start a few of the decorations! That's my favorite part! I am super-excited to get everything done, but it looks like it will be a work in progress for another good couple of months. I am learning patience.
We were invited to a Dress-up party and had a lot of fun. It was weird dressing up as something I'm not. I felt really odd inside. I did figure out that I am not a pretty Blonde. My true Blonde hair is no more and I've moved into a new stage of Hazel.
The boys are a little off because of the time-change. They now wake up at 6:00am instead of their usual 7:00am. They want to eat lunch and dinner an hour earlier too. It was tough for them during services yesterday because all they wanted to do was eat, even though they both had a big breakfast. Hope they adjust soon.
Very cute! Sorry the beds took forever to come in. How long will it take to get an unbroken bed? What kinds of decorating are you doing in the boys room?
Hi, J..., this is Randy. I worshipped with your family at N.N., VA. I understand you are married; congratulations. It was nice to see your sister, C., and her husband at 1k Voices. Hope you are well.
The fires are still growing in Southern California. My folks are fine, but there are many around them and in the congregation that have been evacuated. My folks say they can see the flames on the hills surrounding them and the air quality is very poor. Please keep them in your prayers.
Good sweet friend Jamie Wilson is trapped at Pepperdine. I'm not sure of the details of why she was unable to get out and go home, but she is in need of your prayers.
Noah is 3 now. We had a fun-filled birthday for him. Last Saturday, we took him on his first train ride. So, it wasn't a real train, but close enough. We took BART to San Francisco and walked down Pier 39. He got to see the sea lions and the ocean and even came home with a souvenior Trolley! What a fun day!
Today is United Nations day. Noah had his first program at school. It was halarious! He didn't know all the words to most of the songs, so he just sat there and made faces. Seriously, what else is a boy to do with all that free time?!?!? He had an audience and music playing, so might as well enjoy the stage!
We then went to the classrooms and ate food from around the world. It was fun. He didn't have an Fijian outfit, but Sean had bought Kyle an outfit from China years ago, so I put that on him instead. He had fun, and played the part!
I made Jambalaya and I guess you could say that it is a food from USA. Does Creole have a nation? (j/k)
had no idea you were on here! i love the place. i'm about a minute walk from the church building. oh, and we'll definitely learn that song and ANY other that you'd like to sing. we should have a church talent show some weekend!
Sorry to hear about your friend being trapped at Pepperdine. Also, I had been wondering how far you were from the fires. I do hope and pray that your family will stay safe. Are you anywhere near there?
Noah has been on a REAL train before! Remember last year when we road the train for GG's bday? Speaking of bday's... I'm seriously behind but I DO have presents to send!! I'll have to get Brian to go to the Post Office for me tomorrow.
Lots of memories from those pictures. I was there for the Friends Tour our freshman year. Someone got pooped on by a seagull at Pier 39. I think it was Mr. Dugger.
I was asking about GG because I have a couple of pictures from here that I don't know who the people are in them. I sent them to Chris but I guess he's out-of-town right now. :o( If you aren't going there soon, then I can wait for Chris to get back.
The pictures are old family photos. (I'll email them to you). Did you take any of the pictures GG was getting rid of? I know I took some, Lynn has some and Mom has some.
What a great birthday! That looks like so much fun. We are kicking around the idea of taking the kids on the train ride through the grand canyon. I have never had any desire to do that before but I want my kids to see it. Have you done it?
Hazel Hair. Sounds kinda like somebody's name. You could introduce yourself as Hazel. Hazel Hair. Or someone could be a beautician at Hazel Hair. The perfect name for a salon that specializes in Jenai's and Bryan's hair. Hey, then you'd have no problem finding a place for your annual and my semi-annual haircuts. And they'd give us a discount, since we have Hazel Hair. ;-)
The congregations I know of in Atlanta are Embry Hills and Powers Ferry. There are few others in the surrounding areas - you could ask her b/c she lives in Atlanta.
Go bug Josh or his wife Lisa, or Josh's mom Nancy - they all live in the greater Atlanta area and could offer the closest place to visit (though it will likely be Embry Hills)
Love that pic! You've got a beautiful family! I have a cousin who used to live in the Atlanta area. If I can remember (not so good at that, lately) I'll ask and see about a Church in the area.
If you go to Conyers or Covington, you need to remember that's where the first 5 episodes of The Dukes Of Hazzard were filmed. I don't know what church it is, but the original Boar's Nest is now a church of some kind. Interesting.
I may need a favor. Mom and Dad have TONS of old family photos.... somewhere. Getting them to look for them hasn't been easy so I may need some help. ;o)
I noticed that some folks mentioned to you Embry Hills. That's where Shawn attended while he was in Atlanta. This is a wondeful congregation Pam Duff, her sister Diana and husband Bill attend there and I know they would be happy to help you in any way. If you need any of their contact info I'm sure we can get it for you.
I really think that is a good picture of your family. Thanks for sharing. I was also thinking about Embry Hills. I know there are several around the Atlanta area. You might go to Find The Church.com. We had some rain this past Thursday and Friday and it was so exciting. Not enough to make a dent in the drought but it was welcome anyway.
