According to my fiance' (and yes, I love saying that ;) I become like a little kid and get so, so excited over food. I think it is one of the most enjoyable things ever to eat good food. It has even been pointed out that I bounce, and hum "mmmmmmmmmm" while I'm eating.
And its not just chocolate or desert that I love, but macaroni, mashed potatoes, bread, pasta, almost any and all breakfast foods, my mom's casseroles, and things with lots of flavor. I was bouncing up and down today over some chick-fil-a chicken nuggets!
I got my fill of good food the past two weeks being home and with the Lewis'. I also got more than my fill of Christmas presents, but do wish I had more time with family.
Glad to meet you at the FCF shindig! We look forward to seeing old family and new family and family in prospect each year. See you next year, Lord willing.
Most of you would not believe how much has gone on in my life the past few days... I'm going to give you the whole story, but if you want the short version skip to the end where it says "The Short Version"
I finished all my exams Friday afternoon around 2. They all went well and I did very good in my classes despite the unusual amount of stress during this semester. Austin, myself, Brian and Meredith went to Nashville to Opry Mills mall/Opry-land Hotel to see Christmas lights and eat. We met up with Sarah and Chris in Nashville while they waited for Mom and Ben to pick them up and take them home for winter break.
We had a nice dinner at the mall and then walked to the hotel where we met up with Diana and Josh.
Little did I know, that [Mr. Lewis|austinator| had something up his sleeve. He pulled me away from our group of friends and speed walked around the hotel to an elevator tower where, after the large crowd up there left, he pulled a ring out of his pocket, dro;pped to one knee and asked me to marry him!!
My response "What are you doing?" "Are you serious?" "Get up and stop messing with my head!" because, he had convienced me that I was just going to have to wait for him to be ready AND he casually gave me a really fake ring ealier that day "just because" or..... just because he thought I saw the bag from Zales in his room! :)
I eventually said Yes!
Most of my family was actually in the hotel because they knew the whole plan. And... when the Lewis' were told they quickly made the drive to Opry Land to see us also. I am so excited and could not be happier! :)
Oh, but wait.. it gets better!! :)
I left the apartment about 2:15 This after noon to go home for Christmas break. About 5 miles down the interstate I realized something was wrong with my car. No sooner than I thought that than my engine cut off, every light on my dashboard was blinking, and I was coasting down the interstate! I pulled over, got the help of a nice man from Scotty's Automotive who just happened to see me. He called a patrol man that works for the KY Transportation department, who got to me about the same time that my wonderful friends, Phillip and Dan also came to help. These men tried several different things to see if I could just get my car back to BG, but no such luck. Called a tow truck and he got my car back to the apartment for a small charge of $130!!! (Its illegal to leave your car parked on the shoulder in a construction zone!)
and if you know anything that has been going in my family the past couple weeks, you will probably either die laughing or cry!!! :)
The short version: I am engaged to him finally and very excited about it, but had a little bit harder time trying to get home! My car broke down and was towed back to BG. I have really amazing friends who helped me so, so much. A really amazing family (or two ;) who can laugh about this and be happy/helpful instead of crying and for the first time an amazing fiance'. I AM going home tomorrow with my brother's help and I start work Monday- if anything else "interesting" happens... I'll let ya know ;)
I CRIED for happiness when I read your blog. I am really excited for you - it's a FUN and exciting journey! Remember to keep your focus on God and focus on building a solid relationship, even through all the crazy wedding planning stuff!
That is such a great story. Congratulation!
I also found this funny, because me and Paul not only got engaged at Opryland Hotel, but we also had major car problems immediately afterward :P.
If I ever have grandchildren, you will probably be BEGGING me to take them... I know the genetic makeup in my grandchildren!!! And we will get there faster! Ok - I really do abide by the speed limit laws, just for the record, when I see the signs. I've only been pulled over once for speeding - and that was 5 feet past the lowered speed limit sign. But he was generous, probably because of your future husband's unresistable face in the back seat.
Congratulations yourself!! It is so exciting to plan a wedding although you really wont remember much other than the fantastic guy you just committed to spending the rest of your life with ;) I'm sure you will have plenty of help but I found this website really useful. www.theknot.com mostly for guest list monitoring! Anyway, congratulations again! I'm so happy for you!
Aww, I loved your car, why did it die? and little miss red head in disguise told me when she randomly showed up at a party. I'm very excited for you! If you need anything just call!
Just... wow!! Such a good story!! i am so happy for you guys!! I was just thinking the other day, 'I wonder when Austin and Allison are going to get engaged?" And then it happened! I hope that God blesses you as you walk this road together!!! Love and miss you! I wish that I was there to give you a hug!
I have finished Jury's. They went ok- Not the best performance, but not the worst. The piece that I thought was the most secure almost crashed and burned, but i made it to the end (after skipping a few lines)
I also gave my capstone presentation today, which went very well. My Teachers liked it and didn't give me any changes to the paper either- so I guess that's good!
My presentation for Ed Psych also went very well. Overall the group's presentation went a little bit long, but I don't the teacher is counting off for that.
Christmas Pop's concert last night went pretty good. My two measure solo was kind rough the first time through, but the second time I nailed it!! the third time I couldn't tell you what it sounded like because my hands were shaking and my face was red! :)
Now I just have five exams next week. But you better believe it is a much easier week than this one... so, so much easier!!
=) NICE WORK!!! ♥ Mine went ok as well... last night my practice was... beyond descriptiona and Nana even noticed, but today was not quite there... There was only one note that I really regretted tho. It was supposed to be a chromatic line and I took a musical breath (a very nice one) but the next note was not actually a note and it was about 2 octaves lower than the real one. AWFUL! But besides that I survived!!
Does anyone else ever feel like you have been waiting and waiting for something for so long, that it is never really going to happen?
Like actually finishing school....(just one example) I think it is just something everyone makes up to keep you doing what they want you to do. At least that's what I think my teachers are doing. They also make up silly requirements to keep me in their classes all year long :/
I am sure that I will be ok once I've had a little break, but don't ask what I'm doing once I graduate. All I can tell is that I am NOT going to school.
LOL... i actually played in a clarinet, cello, piano trio for a USF clarinetist's senior recital. mr. payne was her accompanist, and she (the clarinetist) wanted to do this Brahms trio, so mr. payne asked me if i would be interested.
I have gotten free meals three times this weekend! All three have been with good friends too! and... I still have leftovers!! :) thankyou!!
I am getting ready to head back to school for a dress rehearsal tonight. Also have rehearsal tomorrow until 9:45 pm. Then an orchestra concert on Thursday and a Halloween party after work Friday!! Hope my costume turns out ok.
I am really, really starting to get senorites! Some of my friends from school have been talking about going to grad school next year- no way I am going to keep going to school for at least a couple years. I am so tired of school right now, and I need a break bad, but i might actually have a decent schedule spring semester.... MIGHT being the key word! ;) we'll see.
It finally got cold here. Our apartment turned the heat on for the first time today, but we needed it. I don't like being cold, but if I can be wrapped up in blankets with sweat pants and hot chocolate I like it a lot better.
