My God has blessed me beyond measure! 01-08-09 12:36am EST
Here I am, a straying pilgrim who has wandered back on her way to Florida. Strange thing regarding Florida weather and my adjustance to it: It’s warm here, like highs-in-the-70s-and-80s warm, and humid too, but I keep shivering. Ah, for the cool 10s and 20s with rocks in the beds and socks which are pleasant to wear!

Benjy Payne’s son was born two weeks ago! His name is Brice and Mr. Payne said he’s really cute and is already 10 lbs :D. Aww!

All my classes, except for Honors Reading, viola lessons and piano lessons have started and I like the large majority of them. English is the exception. I’m not sure why I dread that class so much, but I left it with a big knot of fear in my stomach. The first class of Daniel and Zechariah right afterward was so good and quite relieving! I left it absolutely elated! So far my schedule is not quite completely made out as viola lessons and work still need to be figured in. It should be finalized within the next week.

Everyone on campus seems to be very tired already, even though it’s only the second day of classes. I myself took a 45 minute nap in the library this afternoon while trying to read The Communist Manifesto. Silly conversations about the confusing nature of guys followed... :)

It was good to be worshipping with the brethren at North Terrace tonight :). I’ll be helping Laura Lopez with the 6-8(?)-year-olds’ class on Wednesday nights this trimester and she said I may teach some, as well :D. Afterwards, Felipe and I talked for awhile. He’s doing much better with his English. We only needed to resort to Spanish on a few occasions. I did learn the Spanish word, paisaje, however.

Along with the usual pocket packet of tissues, nail filers and toothbrush stocking-stuffers, my grandparents gave me a harmonica this year. It made me laugh :). Realizing the instructions were written in rhyme made me laugh again :D. Learning how to play it is something else, though. Youtube lessons help somewhat, though much more practice is necessary. Maybe eventually we’ll be able to play a duet as we’re going through Wendy’s drivethru.
The camera my parents gave me is another much appreciated gift, which you can see a large portion of the ways I’ve used it if you happen to be my friend on Facebook.

I shall cease from my rambling now. May God bless you throughout this new year as you continue to grow in your service to Him!

‘Seek the LORD while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the LORD,
And He will have compassion on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”’

~ Isaiah 55:6-9
7laughinghardmansLove you!!!
mr_and_mrs_berryHi honey. You were up late, about the time I fell asleep! Then I woke early and couldn't sleep again. I should be doing something like cleaning the bathrooms, but reading your blog is more fun! Love you.
laurar209Awww... another Bryce/Brice!
Now go to bed!
emerGood luck with second semester Honors Reading. Though the reading does sound rather intersting this year, I decided not to take it.

Our God is an awesome God! 12-16-08 02:10pm EST
It's been snowing today!

Molly seems to be enjoying the weather.

Jefferson, however, has been huddling himself into a big ball of fluff on the porch and looks quite miserable. Poor kitty.

Have a blessed day!

"God thunders with His voice wondrously,
Doing great things which we cannot comprehend.
For to the snow He says, 'Fall on the earth,'
And to the downpour and the rain, 'Be strong.'"

~ Job 37:5-6

Side note: A broken bottle of hot sauce on a plywood floor is not the most pleasant thing to clean up. Yuck!
rundrummerrunIt's funny how Job keeps coming up in Scripture references after taking that class. :) Perhaps the Lord will bless us in the same manner, but until then, we can be thankful for the steady rain that's forecasted all week.
mayflowerWow - I can't wait to be home!!!!
mr_and_mrs_berryYou right. She keeps referring to different classes lessons from this past semester. You students hace some great teachers down there. And, the feeling is mutual!

lromanicI hope for your sake that you currently have more snow than in the photos above. We got at least 3 inches before the ice packed it down :)

We made it! 12-11-08 10:00pm EST
Thanks be to God that Caitlin and I did not meet the same fate as John Denver! :)

When we stepped off the airplane, we were greeted by refreshing 38* weather. It poured rain all the way home. I love it! Especially after the humid 70s we left behind in FL!

Mum and I dropped Caitlin off at the Shipleys' at 9:30 and we just got home ourselves. Dad's popping popcorn on the stove for us! :)

G-burg peoples, see you soon!!! :D

"My soul waits in silence for God only;
From Him is my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken!"

~ Psalm 62:1-2

Have a blessed week and may God bless you in your travels (if you're going somewhere)!
eladeajohn denver! good music. have a safe trip.
laurar209see you soon!
dwatkinsI actually prefer the original version by Peter Paul and Mary. The song was written by John Denver and shopped to them first. But yay for going home! I have a sneaky suspicion that home misses you. :)
emerDid you know that John Denver died in a plane crash? Kinda ironic, huh? I hope and pray that you do not meet the same fateful end! :)
lromanicWelcome home!
mr_and_mrs_berryOh it is so good to have you here :) More to come, but she won't be spending much time here. What a life - working.
motherofallYay. so glad you're there! :)

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus! 12-07-08 09:48pm EST
Today was a wonderful Lord’s Day, worshipping God together with our brethren at North Terrace, spending time with various friends and studying for finals, as well.

Several of us North Terrace college students went out for lunch this afternoon, taking Felipe, a visiting Colombian high school student, out to eat with us. He’s here for two months mainly to practice his English, but only got here on Tuesday, so he “is not yet comfortable with his English.” Stephen and I got to practice our Spanish quite a bit during lunch and even more while driving places. I think Elizabeth, who was also riding in Stephen's car, was a little lost through most of our conversation. We added quite a few words to our vocabulary, including pimentón, ganso dimente, chocar los manos and polícia de acostando (I think). We spent quite a bit of time trying to explain “bump,” “calor” vs. “color,” and “better” vs. “butter.” Felipe was a good sport, however, and we enjoyed ourselves and had a lot of laughs despite, and perhaps even as a result of the difficulty of the language barrier.

It's Finals Week! My finals this week are:
Monday – Epistles (10:30 A.M.)
Tuesday – Marriage and the Family (8:00 A.M.), American History (12:30 P.M.), and Evidences (4:30 P.M.)
Thursday – The Book of Job (10:30)

LORD willing, Caitlin and I will be flying home on Thursday evening after our finals are over! So happy! :)

”Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than from men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”

- Col. 3:17, 23-24

Have a blessed week!
lromanicLooking forward to seeing both of you again
lori_in_paCaitlin's coming too? Goody!
video_nanaOur Caitlin??
august28roseYes, Caitlin Frye.
laurar209I'm starting a new scarf today!!! Maybe, unless I feel adventorous and do the hat pattern I found. "Easy" is in the title of the hat pattern, but we'll see...
laurar209Oh, and I got TWO compliments on my blue scarf that I finished!
gemma^ I made a blue scarf too! Do you knit or crochet?
mr_and_mrs_berryHi honey! I love that verse - it is one of my "motto" verses. What a funny word - motto. I knew/know an Otto. See you soon :) I'm practically (not quite yet) counting the hours!
rundrummerrunPlata = flat... better, butter, gutter... good times. :)
ominieAh, I'm gonna miss you!!
