I stared working again and I absolutely LOVE it!! However, taking care of trauma patients is quite the challenge. I find myself on edge every time I hear the "trauma alert" pages going off as well as the ShandsCair chopper land. I hope to never ever see someone I know being shuffled into our unit. I am learning that the human body can be mangled and contorted in ways I never imagined possible. Somehow, the 'team' manages to put these folks back together, but their lives are oftentimes never the same. On a more interesting note: I did leech therapy for the first time this week! It was awesome!! =) I worked the first part of the week and now I have about a week off to play. I like to work hard, but play even harder. That's my plan for now.
Gator nation is everywhere so you all should know that UF's homecoming is this week. YIPPIEEE!!!! I am excited about going to the parade on Friday and the game on Saturday!!! But even more excited about laying my eyes on Percy and Tewbow up close and personal! Maybe they will throw me some candy. =)~

I'm glad people have such a pretty nurse to take care of them...and I'm sure that helps them feel better too! I wouldn't want to ride in that helicopter tho', because that would mean, I am very, very sick and near death.

Hey there. Just thought I'd share the biggest rip off of all time - college text books. Nursing books = $785.00 I think the Lord every day I had a scholarship for those books! I have 80 bucks left on my scholarship so i'm gonna go back and get a few of the flip pocket books i wanted. Hope all is going well for you
Update: I have been enjoying my time off from school and work, but am anxious to get back in the swing of things. I start my new job at Shands UF in a few weeks. I will be working in the surgical/trauma ICU (I hope I don't see any of you there!). Yesterday I had to go and get "primed" for working there which included two painful, horrific shots in both of my arms! Nurses are terrible patients!! I didn't cry though! =)~ I finally figured out which parking garage I am 'allowed' to park in. Naturally, it's the one that seems to be about 2 miles away from the hospital entrance (but they say a shuttle bus will pick me up and drop me off). So I guess that isn't all that bad.
Khloe had surgery on her little hip a few weeks ago and is FINALLY starting to use her left leg again. She is also learning how to sleep without her mommie at night...but somehow makes her way into the bed during the middle of the night nuzzled up against me. We are still working on having a doggie free bed again.
Florida football is finally here. We have season tics, but skipped out on last weeks game due to the hot weather. Plus we celebrated my Grandpa's 80th birthday. We will be there with bells on for this weeks game against Miami. Go GATORS!!
Ladies Day is rapidly approaching and I am looking forward to that. Carrie and Auntie Di ALWAYS do such a great job putting everything together for all of the ladies to enjoy! We always have such a great time on that weekend.
TS Fay ruined our 10 days in Daytona Beach. However, we were beach front for all of the excitement provided by all of the "Northerners" that were vacationing there too. Nothing like watching idiots swim in the ocean with 50 to 60 mph winds with gigantic waves to boot. All in all we survived! I've decided that Daytona Beach is disgusting and I'll stick to Destin and the west coast of Florida for now! =)
I wish I had something more exciting to report on...but that's all for now. Hope you 'buggers' are happy now.
BTW, did I mention that I met, gazed, and hugged John Travolta this summer too??!!! Oh yea, thought so....

Thanks Krista. I've been given permission to return to work on Monday 1/2 days - light duty for 2 weeks and then they'll re-evaluate to see if I can work full days. I think the light duty will continue to the end of the month. Hope your week is going well.
yikes, 4:30. uggg. glad you like the job! the semester is going good. i have an anatomy teacher who teaches as if shes teaching med students and on more than one occasions has made students leave crying! but whatever i have to do! she wont intimidate me!
Bent and I saw John Travolta in Dillard's tonight while we were shopping (actually Brent saw him first...I was looking at shoes). After he walked by, we finished up our shopping and left the store. We headed to dinner and Brent could see the look of disappointment in my eyes...so we headed back to Dillard's, parked right beside his Jag and waited for him to come out. When he came out, Brent said, "Mr. Travolta, could my wife get a picture with you?" He said yes. I said, "Oh no...I didn't wear any make up tonight" (I was in the pool all day and my face is red as a cherry!!) John and his entourage (three other men) said that I was fine, and we proceeded with the pic (note we were neck and neck, right?). He carried on a conversation with us and we waited for them to load their packages (I wonder what he bought??) in his car. We were parked so close to his car that we both couldn't get in at the same time...they drove off...and I have been smiling ever since.
so far, yesterday I made a bacon, egg, tomato sandwich, today blueberry scones....I really need to bake something to last me a whole week since I start back my workweek tomorrow and go through tuesday night...I don't cook when I work! I just haven't been craving or wanting anything so I'm having a hard time deciding what to make...
Khloe was barking at me and I tought maybe she wanted to go potty, she didn't so I got on the floor with her with my puter and she went into her little house and got on her pillow. Wellllll!
She is so sweet!!! I am enjoying her.
Well you just rest, relax and enjoy your stay, wish I was there we would boogie board!!!! Everyone asked about you and Brent last night, they wished yall could have been there, Rissa wanted to know how you like your gift, I told her you loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a blast, so many people, she had a great turn out. We really gave Jamey grief about turning 40..They wish you and Brent could be there today also, but they understand, we will have to have another big church get together when yall are here for the weekend, especially it will be getting cooler!!

We had a wonderful time today, and enjoyed doggy sitting so much, I miss her human eyes, she is so sweet!!! Such a sweet dog. Glad yall got home ok and enjoyed being with yall this afternoon. Have a good week and a good day tomorrow
