OK, everyone. Just some randomness today, but I got tired of looking at my resolves! So, with all the flooding and road closures up here, what would you take with you if the Sheriff knocked on your door and told you that you had 10 minutes to evacuate because the river was rising rapidly, and if you didn't leave right then, you couldn't get out after that?
And if you are actually IN that situation, we're praying for you! Tim, Jamie, are you guys OK?
We live on a peninsula in the middle of Puget Sound. So, if the ocean rises, then we are in trouble! :) In addition to that, we were blocked out from most of the rain by the Olympic mountains. Not until the latter part of yesterday afternoon did the wind blow in the right direction for it to start raining. Weird, but true.
Doctor says no heating pad. It's not safe to raise your body temperature so much esp this early on. And lately I've been so hot that I'm afraid it wouldn't take much!
Hmmm.... probably take wedding and as many other photo albums/disks that I could (including some of my favorite pictures off the wall!), baby books, box of kids' artwork, the safe, my purse, a couple special pieces of jewelry, my cat, oh and my kids! :) I'm sure I'll think of a bunch more things, but those are the first truly irreplaceable things I could think of!
So after the children and animals...the computers - that would encompass the business, the pictures, the email, and pretty much our entire lives. Everything else can be replaced.
the cats, the birds, wedding pictures, photo albums, love letters, Puffy. Our pets and relationship history, basically. Everything else can be (and has been!!) replaced.
I have been motivated to post my resolves (I like that word better) for the new year. Some are renewals, some are new. Here goes:
I resolve to get back on the treadmill for 20 minutes a day. My back likes me better when I do.
I resolve to be more fiscally accountable and responsible. Dave Ramsey is becoming my new best friend! A workable plan, and we are on Step 2! Woot!
I resolve to think before I open my mouth, or respond to a post. There has been alot of negativity of late and I want to turn that around, as much as my influence will let me.
I resolve to limit my time on the computer. It has become an addicting distraction, and I need to change that habit.
I resolve to love and pray for all I have contact with, which includes all of you! I have always had a very active prayer life, and it gives me great comfort and strength.
I resolve to get more into God's Word on a daily basis. I don't know why it's such a hard habit for me to maintain. Maybe this year I will get an audio Bible, and listen while I work.
Thank you all for reading this, and may God bless you all this year!!
the audio Bible is a great idea!!! Often, when I read at home, I feel like I should be doing a list of chores! I really have a hard time reading at home. At work - no problem! Note - yes, I can read at work during down time :-D
I just ordered my audio Bible!! I am very excited-it is called a Wow Bible, KJV, entire Bible, narrated by Stephen Johnston (?)It's like a Bible Ipod/PDA/Calculator all in one! I can read the screen like an electronic Bible, listen to the narrator at the same time, by speaker or earphones, it has a book mark function to mark where I am, calendar function, and charges on the computer or from a regular outlet, and an SD card slot for a 4GB card to store music. It's like a PDA/Zune, with the entire audio Bible already loaded on it! WOOT!
I just discovered my naughty kitty peed on my only pair of tennis shoes, so I can't do the treadmill till I get new ones.Grr. Good thing I just got a $20 rebate check for my Kitchen Aid roaster-it was such a deal! $29.99, with a $20 rebate! Woot!
Grandma Martin's killer chicken enchilada recipe?? (giggle) Ok, so I read your comment on Robyn's pleo. :) Um...can we say...post us the recipe? Pretty please? :)
Since I am blocked from the Sirius website on my work computer, perhaps you can check. I want to find out myself, since I will be deciding if I want to keep it after 6 months.
I have always loved this quote, so I will leave it for you all.
The new year lies before you
like a trackless field of snow.
Be careful how you tread it,
for every step will show.
Take time to reflect on your triumphs of the last year, and thank God for them, and also look at places where you could have done better, and resolve to improve. I pray God richly blesses each and every one of you in 2009, and let's all strive to make it to heaven, and bring as many with us as we can!
but I have nothing new to say. Just the same old "I'm sick of hiking half a mile through the icy snow to my car with everything I may need while I'm out shoved into a backpack which weighs 20 pounds and the roads are slippery and icy and my blood pressure goes way up because I HATE driving/riding in the snow and ice, and I just want things to go back to normal because I also HATE missing services because of the weather, and then when we finally get home, I have to hike a half a mile back to the house with my 20 pound backpack and whatever else we got while we were out, and I just want the snow to GO AWAY!" whew! I feel a little better now. I hope you are all tolerating this better than I am!
Well, as soon as my tech support gets home from work, I will post pics of what it looks like out here! I'm guessing the snow is about 14" deep, since it came up to my knee. (No short jokes!) Just wishin' it would go away- I am sick and tired of looking at white. And not seeing my brethren, and especially not seeing Jonathan! Two weeks of cancelled services-YUCK! I feel like I'm being naughty, but it's the weather's fault. Just wish it would warm up and get back to our wet, normal winter. Although you know, when it DOES warm up and all this melts, then we will be getting flooding reports. Hoping you all have a warm and happy Christmas!
WoW!! That is amazing! I am sure it is gorgeous though. :) No white Christmas here. But hey, it's the people that make it special anyway, right!? Right!! Enjoy hearth and home, and whatever family you are able to see and hug. :)
ya i bet he is to!! but they also said they had NO power so you got your good and your bad with that one...that was my favorite car a Nissan R35 zach is just doing some wishful thinking and hoping my favorite car doesn't smoosh like a tin can like his does jk buddy! not really XP
We miss seeing everyone, too! Between the weather, being sick and dealing with Rich's dad, we figured out I haven't been to services since Dec. 10th and Rich since Dec. 7th. :( We just don't feel right after having that hole in our life there for so long! Hope we see everyone soon!
At this point, Doug is still not taking visitors. I'll let you know when that changes and thanks so much for thinking of him! :)
I bet! I'm sorry. Mom and I are getting bored too... no one can go anywhere right now. My dad is practically risking his life going to work. But since he lived in colorado and north dakota for some time hopefully that helps with how well he drives in the snow lol.
