is amazing. Of course I know I'm preaching to the choir about that but it's nice to be reminded of these things. Today we had a reminder of what it means to be a Christian. There's been a deal going on at Game Stop where if you buy two used games you get one free. WE took advantage of this on Saturday to get some Christmas presents. Anyways, some of those games we got for ourselves. Two of those games ended up being kind of lame once we took them home. So today we took them back and we decided to trade in some other games we don't play as much. To keep the deal, we had to find two games within a similar price range and just swap them out for the ones we didn't like. We did this and then traded in our old games. The guy smiles and says, "Well here's $69.00 of store credit." We take the gift card and walk out with frowns on our faces. We couldn't figure out how we just got $69.00. I figured that the games could have been worth more than we thought they were going to be.
We got to the car and stared at the receipt. Come to find out, the man had refunded us for the games we were returning even though we had gotten them free. We weren't supposed to have $69.00 of store credit at all. We took one look at each other.
I said, "I really wish we could keep that, but that would be cheating Game Stop out of almost $70 wouldn't it?"
Caleb agreed and said, "We should probably go take it back."
I nodded. So Caleb went back in the store and the man just about freaked out for two reasons: because he realized he could have potentially lost his job for that and because of the fact that we actually thought of him and decided to come back in. What we did ended up having an impact on the entire store. Everyone noticed the fact that Caleb was going from a $69.00 gift card to a $14.00 ($14.00 is still good to me :-)
One man shouted, "That's good kharma man. That's gonna come back tenfold."
Caleb made sure everyone knew that we did it because we were Christians. And everyone was impressed. It made us feel good. Although we didn't have a Bible study with anyone it still felt good to know that we had an impact on the people at Game Stop that night in some small way.
Cool. Yes, after starting work, I've realized how Christians can have a positive impact on people just because of the little things. I'm sure you and Caleb have touched people around you in that way before, and will continue to do so. :)
So everyone on campus has the stomach flu. It has managed to catch us apartment people as well. Matt, Alexis, Lucas, Kathryn and Jared were all over at our apartment on Saturday. Of all of those people, I am the only one the angel of plague has passed over so far. I've been praying really hard that I don't get it. We're at a stage in our relationship where Caleb needs me to be the strong pillar of support. Not that I should ever quit being a strong support, but he needs me to be stronger than ever right now. Therefore, getting sick right now would be bad. So I'm asking for everyone's prayers on behalf of all the sickeys and that I don't get it.
Even after spending all day yesterday with the toilet, he managed to drag us up to the polls and we voted. It was funny too because all of the early voting places have had these tremendously huge lines. We stood in line for 2 seconds to vote. I found it ironic anyway. It may be because there's tons of voting places today and not as many early voting places.
After that, we celebrated by going to Jamba Juice to get an antioxidant rich smoothie for me to help keep me from getting sick. It had acai berries, blueberries, orange juice, immunity boost, antioxidant boost and raspberry shorbet. Should help out a ton. Then we got toilet paper... always a necessity.
Now we are here typing on our respective computers across the room from each other because I refuse to sit near him...
heh... my mom always buys toilet paper as a present for both bridal and baby showers. she says, "you can do without a lot of things, but when it comes right down to it, everyone forgets about TP and that's essential. period."
Holly! Today I was unpacking a box of stuff my parents brought to me and in that box was a bunch of stuff I had kept from FC. In all that was a TON of happy mail from you! Know what? It made me happy again! It also made me miss you lots. I hope you didn't get sick and that all is going well for you and Caleb!
Haha, hmmm...perhaps they could have considered switching the names around to Yoyo and Hoops, but Hoops and Yoyo has a pretty good ring, if you're not hard of hearing. ^_^
It (the meeting) did go well, and then another person offered to pay me for help with handyman type stuff around his house (stuff that I don't know how to do, but can surely learn). :-)
So we just got back from seeing Phantom. I think this time was better than the first time I saw it or it may just be because I have more reason to appreciate it now. ;-)
Before the show, Caleb and Jared cooked dinner for Kathryn and I. It was really romantic. They made chicken corden bleu, asparagus, salad, and cheesecake. They set the plates and the table very romantically with candles and everything. It was really sweet :-)
yeah we're looking into buying a house too, I hope we all find one :D I think the houseing market will be down for a while, so that's good for all us looking to buy :)
Especially when you have an outfit crisis at the last minute for something really fun (i.e., going on a double date to see Phantom of the Opera) and they help you put an entire outfit together for you in one evening!
fun! I'm wearing a black dress and CRAZY red heels. heehee. :) i'm going with the smiths from plant city and i think we're going to tia's tex-mex before the show. i'm so excited!
Guess what! I've got Stefanie doing a little more excercise! She excercised with weights the day before yesterday and went on a walk with me yesterday!
