I don't think I've mentioned that Nolan is crawling now. He's a big fan of "the worm" crawl. May not be conventional crawling, but it gets him to and fro.

At risk of someone stealing my idea and making a bajillion dollars off of it, I'm going to go ahead and share with you my latest idea: Swiffer onesies. Since I have mostly hard floors in my house, whenever I let Nolan crawl around his clothes get just filthy, even if I've JUST swept. That's where my invention comes in. If he's getting dirty anyways, why not let him do some of my work for me? I mean, he's going to do chores when he gets older, and this will just help him get used to it. And best of all, when the Swiffer onesie gets full you just take it off of him and throw it away! No more filthy clothes!

Guess I'd better get down to the patent office ASAP...
mikejohnsontxI think you've been beaten to the punch. baby mop
marmee1965^LOL!
texasdadYep, looks like your a "day late and a dollar short" with that idea Becky!

Mike how did you find that?
sjeanI still like your idea.
sclineHey but it's not the Swiffer brand. You need to sell the idea to them! :)
beckydThat's just crazy! I was completely kidding- I can't believe they actually make that!
markrobertsI like the baby mop! do they make it for teen-agers - as they perpetually lay on the floor and roll around as they endless talk to their friends on the cell phone? ;-)

Fun Mail! 10-14-08 06:08pm CST
As much as I love email, there's just something about getting things in the "real" mail. I always find it so much nicer to get real letters and cards in the mail, and getting packages almost sends me over the top! Last week I had to break down and finally purchase some items I'd been postponing as long as I could, so all this week I've been getting packages to open- so fun!

Here's what I've gotten:
- A convertible carseat. Nolan's feet are *almost* dangling off the end of his infant one, so it really was time to get his "big boy" seat.
- Nolan's halloween costume. He's going to be a bear.
- Her birthday present. Can't tell you what it is yet- she might find out!
- Toner cartridge for my printer

This, of course, just encourages me to buy online because, not only do I get the product I want, I get to open it like it's a present! Much more exciting than going shopping for real!
sjeanHave you been shopping on Ebay?
beckyd^I looked on there for these items, but ended up finding better deals elsewhere :)
markrobertsI agree: packages are crazy fun even when you know what it is!
txmomSometimes I wish there were a "substitute Mom"! But, with patience and a lot of prayer, you get through illnesses. Thank you for your thoughts. :)
kaceyatthebatI too have been shopping online lately and getting the mail is SO fun when I go through a phase like this. For me it's been cloth diapers and girls' fall/winter clothing.
laughing_eyesfun
anuttyI know, buy me something and send it to me, and I'll tell you how fun it was for me too! Ha! Give Nolan a big hug for me!
txbowlerWOW! A toner cartridge! I've been wanting one of those for soooooo long :-)
mandaoI am the same way although the UPS man or woman normally scare me to death because I am not expecting them. I too am expecting some packages. Mine aren't near as exciting. I am waiting for a Fuse for my GPS so that it will work again and a gas cap for my husbands mower. All not very exciting. I have been looking at Christmas Ideas recently maybe I will do some ordering soon. I don't have very much time left!
sclineI agree, online shopping is lots of fun!
rebekah1i LOVE mail.

it's ridiculous how exciting something from children's place can be... especially when you get really cheap (or no) shipping!
krn_burksI get books in the mail every so often. It is great.
hannahguajardohey i wanated to make a comment on your last "word to the wise" the frozen pizza that i ate the other day said cook before serving
hannahguajardowanted*
hannahguajardohey also...the sounds nolan makes...we are actually learning about phonetics in my linguistics class....and apparently up until 6 months old babies make all the sounds in the international phonetic alphabet....so chinese and english babies will make the same exact sounds as well as inidan and vietnamese babies but at age 6 months the baby leaves the other sounds behind and only focuses from that point forward on the sounds of his/her native language
genanI like getting mail except for... BILLS
windham4lifehaha...I agree with you. Getting "real" mail is so much fun! Thanks for your advice by the way. I'm going to try to talk to her. We'll see how it goes :)
jestersncourtThanks! It sounds like you had a good week last week getting "presents" in the mail!

Word to the Wise 10-10-08 02:57pm CST
I just got a new curling iron and saw this in the instructions booklet:

#7. Never use while sleeping

Thank goodness for their warning. Now I guess I'll just have to do my hair when I'm awake. I was hoping to save so much time by doing it in my sleep....
ellwoodwdwhen my mother was young(er) she feel a sleep while using a curler and burned the back of her neck.
ellwoodwdi don't know if the curler was a curling iron or sometype of forerunner.
txwhittlecThat is hilarious!
sjeanWhen I read those warnings I know the reason they are there because somebody has done it.
meggiesoh my!
txmomToo funny! :)
markrobertsdid it also include a warning not to use in the shower?
sheshewow!!
sclineThat's funny!
txvballeri agree, becky, i was soooo looking forward to using a curling iron or straightener in my sleep. i guess i will be crossing that off my things to do tomorrow!!
jimmythekI am just waiting for the writing on the side of plates at restaurants, "Hot plates"...that would save the waiter and waitresses so much trouble

How refreshing! 09-23-08 04:39pm CST
I just watched the video that is (hopefully) linked below. It's an interview with actor Kirk Cameron and in it he says that he only kisses his wife- even while acting. I don't know what else he believes or if I would agree with him on all topics, but I find his commitment to his wife absolutely refreshing.

Isn't it nice to hear a GOOD news story?!

Kirk Cameron Interview
traceyWow someone on TV that actually used the phrase "honor marriage"! I agree very refreshing!
kaceyatthebatHe's a firm believer in honoring the 10 commandments as a basis for bringing people to Jesus. His philosophy is very interesting if you ever want to find out more about it.
sharonI'm pretty sure I've seen him on some religious channels!
txvballeri hope that when i get married, my husband will have the same feelings and beliefs has Kirk Cameron. although i bet my husband won't be a famous actor!!!
sheshehe's spirituality is the basic reason growing pains finally went off the air. He was trying to use it as a medium to bring people to the Lord. Interesting guy.
jimmythekWow! Very interesting.
sclineThat was great! Now I want to see the movie!
mandaoI have been wanting to see that movie for a month now! I have seen one trailer on TV for it and it looks so good! For once in Hollywood they have them work the marriage out and show that it takes work and selflessness! I told Tim I want him to take me on Friday!
txwhittlecthat is great to hear!
sjeanI just watched that. It gives me such a good feeling. I may have to fork over the price of a movie for the first time in a really long time.
txmomI have always liked Kirk and his sister, Candace. Can't wait to see the movie!! It is very nice to have good movies out there instead of the trash that is usually in every movie theater!
jestersncourtOf course it isn't like he is in very many movies anymore! lol He is an interesting guy though.
aisbellthanks, we are getting there, not contagious any more but bodies still recovering.
txmomYou have been tagged see my blog! :)

Gone gold 05-04-08 12:14pm CST
Hi folks,

Just wanted to let everyone know that baby Nolan is here, healthy and safe! He's so sweet!

To protect our privacy, though, I've decided to go gold. Thus, any pictures I post of him will be private. If you would like to be on my friends list, just leave me a message below. And for those of you who don't currently have a pleo name, just register for one (it's free!) and then you can be on my friends list. You don't even have to post anything if you don't want to!

Thanks!
