This summer on July 26-August 2 My dad and I went to visit the Reaves in Mexico. When I flew into Tuxala, the capital Of Chiapas, I didn't want to leave at all. I just fell in love with the place. On Sunday, we went to the congregation that Mr. Jeb and Mrs. Shelia visit. I didn't understand anybody but it was great to see other Christians in the World. On Monday Mr. Jeb, my dad, Will, I went to the city of Hawacha(not how it's spelled)to brother Hectar's house to have a meeting that happens every two months. Hectar is considered rich in Mexico because he owns 8 acres of land. Any way the meeting took two days. Tons of members come from different congregations to meet together and hear lessons. My Dad goy to teach a lesson there. It was the only lesson I could understand. I was some much fun there. I was able to ride horses, swim in a creek, and learn alot of Spanish. On Wednesday We all went home. We were wore out from the trip but I was ready to see more of Mexico. The rest of the day we had we rested from the trip and talked. Will, Sarah, and I accused Molly for liking me. She would always sit on my lap and said I was her King. I think she it was cute. At Frist she would say "NO" that she didn't like me but eventually she said "Yes". I know that little kids befriend me but this was different. Anyway back to the subject. On Thursday Mrs. Shelia took Me Will and Dad around the city San Cristobal which is where they live. It was great we got to see how people lived and work. It was great. Then we went to a Market where I bought a wllet made of horse skin. I also bought other things for my brothers. After that we met Mr. Jeb and went to The Big Slide. This slide was huge made of concrete. You would have to get a flattened bottle, climb up to the top and slide down. It was so much fun I wish we had one here. Then we went into a cave it was cool. I learned a little more about caves and had a great time. Oh! I just rememberedOn the way home from Hectar's house we went to see the Myan Ruins. It was awesome. I couldn't believe how big it was. I want to see it again and again. Again back to subject after the cave we went to church where Dad preached another lesson. After Church the Preacher invited us over to his house. I had a great time. I got to know Lisete (Sarah's friend). But I didn't like the way we met. Sarah would tell her that I liked Molly and they would say something in Spanish that means heart but I got over it. Then on friday Mr. Jeb took us to the meat market. Now I bet I all the girls would think "Ucky" but to me it was cool. It was fun until It started rain "HARD". Dad and I had an Umbrela but by the time we got to the car we were soaked. so when we got home I had to dry off and warm up. While I was dry Will, Carlos, Alex(Will's best friends), and I play soccer it was great. Then we all went to a Brother's house to have dinner. It was great for my last day. I had a great time there but when we left I just couldn't leave. I was like my real home here on Earth. I hope I will go there soon to see it again. And I wish I had pictures but my camera is a film camera. May all of you could go there sometime.
aw thats an awesome story! i think its great what the reaves are doing in mexico! maybe ill have the chance to go somedday. lol im glad you had fun though :)
Can't believe you had a film camera with you! What an antique! I'm glad you had a great trip and it looks like it was one adventure after another. I went to kenya when I was 14 and after I got home all I could think about was going back and living there. I traded all of my clothes (and almost my underwear) to the different wood carvers in trade for a carved giraffe. My only advice is that if you REALLY want to go back make it sooner rather than later!
James, what a GREAT story! Thanks for sharing. Travel really changes your real perspective on life, on "home" and even on what you think is "normal" in life. Really enjoyed your post.
James, that trip to Chiapas was a life changing one for me as well. You are alot like me. I enjoyed the outdoors and the environment there so much. I will pray that we can continue to make trips down there to give them more encouragement, and to remind us that we can be happy with so much less in this life. Thanks James. Hey, we are getting a camping trip together for the end of August. I have the boys from our hispanic church that want to go (4 of them) would you and Jeremy want to go?
That was a great story, James! So glad you got to visit and have stories to tell everyone back home! I have seen pics of that slide and it looks like a ton of fun! Its great that you and Will can keep up with each other on here as well! Good luck in school!
Now that is a great "What I did this summer" story! I'm so glad ya'll went and can now understand the love we feel for the works there and for the wonderful Christians that have touched our hearts. Great blog!
I can't believe it school is here. And I am going to High School. This summer was short and quick. I wish I could do more this summer than I did. I hope that I will have fun in High School and make good grades. One day I will make it to College and have a good education. But sometimes I need long breaks.
James, for someone who just returned from Mexico, this sounds rather ho-hum. Couldn't you tell us of your most excellent adventure and what you saw and how you felt about it???!!! OK, now its time for a real blog about your amazing summer trip.
hey everyone i apologize for not being on but all the school work is keeping me away. now summer is here and i am free to talk. yesterday on Saturday, May 24, my family and i went to Mountain View to listen to a gospel meeting by Adam Kindall-Ball there i saw some old friends there. We didn't talk much but I am ready to talk here on pleonast.
Not too many more days of school. What do you have planned for the holidays? I'm glad you will be here for Christmas in your new home. We celebrated early because Jeb and Sheila and the kids were here. Anyway the day isn't important, just the fun of giving. Glad you are still enjoying school and your friends. Happy Holidays!
