I took a random trip alone to Boca Raton, FL this past October and I was trying to think about a less random trip for Spring Break.
So my mind went crazy thinking of all the possibilities! Literally...
Hawaii, the Caribbean, California, Alaska, Dominican Republic, Acapulco, Aruba, etc...
Then a light went off... What if my brother would want to go?
So after talking and such things, him and I are planning a trip to Pagosa Springs, CO to ski and snowboard and so on.
Cool thing is that the price is pretty reasonable. We'll be up there for 7 days (the entire spring break). I'm pretty pumped and it's 2 months away... oh no...
lucky, I havn't been up there to ski since I was 9, its a beautiful area. Don't forget to hit up the continental divide if you have a chance to snow mobile there, some good areas to do that if I remember correctly
fun :) pagosa sprints is nice!! you should snowboard..its much better then skiing ;) do you have your lift tix yet? i'm going to look and see if I have any discounts for there, although thats not where i normally go boarding.
So it's pretty cool/weird/amazing how God's providence works. Some people look at things that happen whether good or bad and declare it to be coincidence or happenstance, but I will always attribute anything that is to the betterment of myself (which in and of it self is not always seen as a good thing, which is understandable because it's a difficult thing to take the bad and turn it into good) as the providence of God.
We know that "...two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father." How much more does He watch us, His own children? Then again "...observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!"
It's simple to see that every good and constructive thing that would come to us is by the Providence of God and not of our own doing or coincidence.
So this past year has been overflowing with providence for me. In some ways it was great others not so much, because I may have failed to take the opportunities I had to grow to my advantage and let them go by unheeded.
This coming year I'm sure will be overflowing again and I am intending to take every opportunity of providence that is given to me and grow from it.

Along these lines there is a good sermon from the Westside Podcast on iTunes about the Marshmallow Principle that you should listen to. There are actually several goods ones on that list and you should listen to them all, but this one especially.
In iTunes Store search: "westside podcast mark roberts"
Subscribe and listen on your way to work, one during your lunch break. We all have time to sit and listen to atleast one sermon right?
I got a call this morning from Lori (my boss at the chiropractic place I just started working at).
B: "Hello?"
L: "Hi, Brandon. Did you quit, because you didn't come into work yesterday? Are you planning on coming in today?"
B: {very confused because he isn't scheduled to work} "I wasn't on the schedule to work."
L: "Did you get the updated schedule? Because you're on it."
B: "I thought I did have the updated one, when was it updated?"
L: "Two weeks ago."
B: "I have the one in my phone and the paper copy that was given to me on my first day last week, and I wasn't on it."
L: "Well you are. Are you coming in?"
B: "Sure, I'll be there this afternoon at 1:45"
So I'm super confused at this point and not very happy about it, because I was 100% certain that I didn't work till monday. So I check the schedule that I have and sure enough Brandon's name is on the schedule, BUT.... (oh yes there is a but) It was the other Brandon, because when I'm scheduled to work it's Brandon AB that's written on the schedule. Thursday and Friday had just "Brandon".
I call back and explain to samantha (co-worker) that it was the other one and she just says to assume that it meant me, because the other one is out for the holidays. Why on earth would I assume that when it has "Brandon AB" every other time I work, and two days of the week has just "Brandon" and no where on the schedule does it say that he will be out like it does for every other employee?! Why, what a logical deduction... I think the part that made me so angry was that I never miss a day of work on purpose (not without an explanation beforehand) and I don't like Lori because of her sort of condescending passive aggressive politeness that is as transparent as a clear summer day. So she was trying to pawn off her mistake as and mistake by the new guy. {super frustrated}.....
I call back again after deciding that I wasn't going to come in after all because I wasn't scheduled and I had already made plans... She made it sound like she was doing ME a favor for letting me have this afternoon off...what?
I must be pretty sheltered, because I've never met people like this before. I attribute that to being a good judge of character and staying away from people like that.
Now I'm going to the REC to release some frustration.
We've been wanting to come visit really bad, but haven't found time. I think after the holidays we want to make it down there. My e-mail is Caramoseley@hotmail.com.
