Matthew 5:9 - Blessed [are] the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

Romans 5:1 - Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 12:18 - If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Philippians 3:20 - For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I know there are some who will misinterpret the intent of my quoting these passages, some who should know me well enough not to, but they probably will anyway. However, I'm becoming much more concerned for some of my brethren and how they are taking the results of this election than I am with the election itself. I don't have to like what's happening in this country and I DO have to stand up for righteous principles, but I also have to realize that I don't have to be ugly about how I do it.

Let us remember Romans 13:1 - Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Obama was elected President because God allowed it to happen. Maybe that's because America is due for some humbling. Maybe he will be a better President than most Christians think. Maybe America will be destroyed. In the end, how much of it REALLY matters?

In the early church, Christianity thrived under the most adverse of circumstances. Christians were beaten, arrested and killed, yet the gospel spread like wildfire. Maybe we've become too lax in our cushy surroundings, and this election is a wake-up call to CHRISTIANS! 2 Timothy 4:2 - Preach the word! Be ready in season [and] out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. Brethren, let us take advantage of these trying times to show the world the HOPE that is in us! My hope is not in this country and whether it stands or falls, it is in Christ Jesus my Savior and Lord!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Ephesians 4:31 - Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Colossians 4:6 - [Let] your speech always [be] with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
scbrewerAMEN
teelduoI agree Shawn. My job as a Christian is to serve other, teach them and LIVE JESUS!
wolftrackI agree. We do have to be careful about how we oppose unrighteousness, but we also have to be just as careful not to stray into what I call "politically correct Christianity" (and no, I'm not saying that you were suggesting this, either). I just mean that we shouldn't let worrying about offending people stop us from saying what needs to be said. "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us adn given Himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:1-2) He also goes on to say that unrighteous needs are not to be named (or supported) among Christians. That will come by offending some people, whether we like it or not.
brewerYes, but there is a difference between the message offending the unrighteous and we being offensive in our manner. I think that distinction is being lost on some.
aubrey_leighI think this post is wonderful, and it definitely incriminates me in some ways. I'll do my best to work to be better in the future. Thanks!
wolftrackI agree with you
abjbWell so much for JoePa's last stand.
abjbAnd WVUs last stand
abjbBased on this, I'm pretty sure the Steelers are going to lose tomorrow.
abjbWVU may not be out yet...
sayniWell put Shawn. And AMEN! We must realize that we have a much higher calling than the Presidency itself. They merely vow to defend and uphold the constitution, (though on that point alone MANY should be/have been impeached) we in Jesus have committed to defend and uphold one thing, not the constitution, but TRUTH! Read and live Eph 6:13-20.

Six years ago today, I married the love of my life.

I couldn't imagine my life without her in it.

She makes me so very happy.

And I know how much she loves me, too.

And in all your born days, you've never seen a wedding feast to match this one!

Oh yeah, the humor from the day:

Looking for some help 10-11-08 01:38pm CST
I'm taking a graduate class this semester and as a group project, we're conducting a survey about people's perceptions of internet security as it relates to online shopping and banking. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and help us out. Also, we're looking to generate responses from folks outside the US. If you know folks in foreign countries, we'd love to have you send them the survey link and get them involved.

Thanks!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This survey is being conducted by graduate students of Morehead State University in Morehead, KY, in the United States. Our goal is to measure perceptions and practices regarding online security among people from around the world. We would like to have people to take the survey from all over the world. We would like to find out if there are any significant differences between Internet users from different countries. The results of the survey will not be shared with anyone except the instructor and the members of our class. We really appreciate anyone who is willing to take the survey as our final grade is heavily influenced by the paper that will be written using the data we will be collecting from the survey. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.
