Last week over Thanksgiving we went to see my family in Kentucky. It was great to see all of them, but I was distracted. Why? We had three new couples contact us while we were out of town. We were receiving emails and phone calls all through the break.
I used to want a break from things I was working on and didn't want to think about my work. Now, I realize such a huge need that I want more of it. My Dad always told me that Homer Hailey once told him "Jay, only go into the ministry if it's the only thing you can do." What did he mean? If you can't do anything else, other than ministry, then minister to needs as God leads. But, if you enjoy other things just as much, then don't do ministry.
I love ministering to people. Everything else seems meaningless to me any more. I realize how much good I can do when I simply desire to deny myself and serve others. So now, I want less of me. Relaxing can happen one day when I'm finally home...till then, I have a family to raise, a wife to love, and a lot of people suffering around me who need a lot of help.
Please pray for my willingness to die to myself and fulfill God's will for me. I'm praying that very thing for you. |

We've had some really cool stuff happen over the last couple of weeks in the work God is doing with Rise of the Home. I never imagined walking into this thinking we'd be presented with some of the situations we are right now. Some are incredibly powerful and some of them are horrific and dark in ways I won't begin to tell you. Satan has had his way with homes in ways you could never begin to imagine or even want to think about and I realize more and more why God has put me and my family here. All praise to Him for understanding the significance and perfection of the timing and necessity.
One of the things that seems to have struck our couples the most is the discussion of the temptations we all face and how they affect the mind and home. I can't say how important it is for these things to be discussed openly and candidly. Our culture has learned to hide from these things and that's a large part of why sin is so out of control in the home today. We don't talk about temptation and so it is allowed to grow without hesitation.
Lisa's posts and uncomfortable candor about her temptation and sin seem to attract a lot of visits and I think her most recent post will do so again. She's been faced with temptations recently and wrote about them in a post titled Tired and Tempted. I thought you guys might want to check it out. I hope it helps awaken you to the the subtle ways we're dragged into the pits of Hell.
Also, please continue to pray. We have some very intense situations in front of us and Godly discernment and the Holy Spirit are essential. Less of us and more of God...
Thanks!
BTW, we had a donation made to begin setting up our not-for-profit entity. This is a huge step and donation. It won't cover everything, but it's progress we weren't expecting and we're so thankful. This will allow for tax free donations for our supporters. Praise God!
Also, we switched everything over to riseofthehome.com. Thanks to Charlie for making a seamless switch. You don't need to change your RSS feeds or links, if you've set them up. They'll all automatically work. |

It's absolutely intense what's happening in our country right now. It seems we're opening up the flood gates of God's wrath on ourselves by allowing sin to permeate everything.
If you don't think hard times are coming for the people of God, you're in for a rude awakening. Satan is prowling around seeking whom he may devour and he's starting at home. Be prepared for a vicious fight.
