So I went to my new doctor. I liked him a lot for what I could tell talking to him for two hours. But he seemed very thorough and he didn't seem like he was just in a big hurry. (That may have been because most of his patients cancelled their appointments due to the weather.) But I am pleased because he thinks that the MRIs are not necessary anymore, which is great cuz I HATE them, he is pulling me off of the thyroid medication for a while because he says that my thyroid still has some function and if I can get by without the medication then I should. He is also cutting my pituitary tumor medication in half. This is just a trial thing, for now. I am to be off the thyroid meds for 6 weeks and then we will test my thyroid hormone levels. So, overall I really liked this guy, I could tell he had lots of experience.
Getting off the thyroid medication is exciting because it is bringing back a path that I had been considering a while back, but when I tried to pursue it, being on the thyroid medication shut that door, which was very disappointing and difficult for me to accept. But that door may be open again if I can stay off of the thyroid medication for a while. I can't give more details than that right now, until I have thought on it a lot more. It would be a huge decision affecting not only me, but my family as well. It will take some time to figure out, but at least it is an option again. Possibly.
Getting to Boise for my appointment was an adventure! The roads were terrible! The drive that usually takes us 2 hours took us a little over 4 hours, but we made it there and back safely. It was actually only the drive there that was bad. It had melted a lot by the time we left.
Tonight we are supposed to get 8-10 more inches of snow. Ugg. I love it but at the same time, we haven't even been able to get on top of the last dump we got. The city sidewalks haven't been cleared so pedestrians have to walk in the street, our parking lot has shrunk considerably, and there are just huge mounds of snow everywhere that haven't been hauled off.
Work has been even crazier than usual. I am counting down the days until I am done. My last day is January 7th, then we go to Oregon to do Christmas, then I move in to my apartment, then I start Nursing School and serious job hunting. It is going to be a very busy next 4 weeks. But I am so ready for it.
And I turn 20 years old on Tuesday! Good bye teenage years you were a lot of fun! But bring on the twenties! Woo hoo!
I am so glad that the new doc was good. I wouldn't mind going to a really good dr. that is far away that a realy bad one that is close. I hope that made since. Happy Birthday too!!!!!
I am going to Boise tomorrow to see a new endocrinologist. I think it is just a consultation. They may do some blood work. I am hoping that this doctor will be better than my current one, though it is annoying because he is 2.5 hours away. I am hoping to get some questions answered and stuff. Please keep me in your prayers both that this doctor will be more helpful and because it is blizzarding right now and we have to drive 130 miles tomorrow. Or 260 miles round trip. We are finally getting the snow that we were wanting, but it is coming with a vengeance. I like it though. I will try to post pictures soon.
And congrats to Courtney and Kyle for the new blessing in their family!!!
So sorry I haven't checked this in a while. I'm so happy that you found a new doctor! I know the trip is a long one, but make it a day of shopping or getting to know that area better see what sites are there to visit. Since you have been in care already the visits should be every few months if not 6 months. How did the visit go? Will keep you in my prayers. Courtney had all her & Kyles family along with 3 couples including Gregg & Jenny over after church Sun. night. I was amazed, here she had Taylor (whom is reported to be the most beautiful baby girl!) and then all these people. Jenny told her to take a pain pill and she said she had taken alieve!! Jenny warned her to keep on top of the pain. Wonder woman!!! I didn't get to go, I stayed at the kids house and rested. I had missed my thyroid medicine for 3 days since I had my flight cancled so I went Sun. afternoon to a Walmart at Arrowhead, and I had no more refills left on my Synthroid. I told the pharmacist that my heart was racing and I was so emotional and pain over my body and she gave me a synthroid free. She said in emergencies they do not charge for medicine like that. Thank God for Walmart, people can say what they want about them, I love them even more now!!!! Then the day before on Sat. we went to the zoo and I had not eaten since 8 am that morning so I got a pretzel and it was hard to chew so I made my self eat a couple of bites and then by 4:30 I felt a melt down coming on. My blood sugar felt a super drop, I ate at 6pm but it was too late. I ate some then got up and went into the bathroom and sobbed uncontrolably. Then I was ok! I hate sugar lows, they make so many people mean, they make me emotional and I cry!!!! But after the thyroid medicine I was much better. (I don't want to ever be without my thyroid medicine again!!!!) Have a great day with your family!!
So today, has been a yucky day. I babysat all weekend and that was fun, but then I woke up this morning sick. I have a fever and my throat hurts. So I crashed on the couch for a while after I got up and drank some jasmine green tea. Then I decided to go shower and stuff. I went to put my contacts in, and I used a different contact solution than I normally do, and as soon as the contact hit my eye I was in agony. It probably would have been kind of funny to watch because I literally jerked back and slammed into the bathroom door holding my eye. I could not pry my eye open for the life of me it hurt so bad and was streaming tears. After a few mintues of intense pain I peeled my open and jerked the contact out and rinsed my eye with eye drops. I do not know what happened, but my eye still hurts and is still watering and blood shot. I threw away the contacts that were in that solution and I didn't even try to put anymore in. I am going to let my eye heal first. After that I ate lunch and put on Pride and Prejudice and promptly fell asleep though almost the whole thing. Then I had to get up and go to work. I got to work and had to shovel off our sidewalks. This was no fun, because I have a fever and was already achy from that, and shoveling was not what I wanted to do. I then walked into the theatre to notice that the janitor did not come in and clean, so I had to speed clean the theatre. Then I had a bunch of emails telling me to do tons of stuff because I was gone from the weekend, and things were just kind of a mess. Then our outside lights decided to quit working which is bad news because it has been snowing all day and is really slick out there. If someone slipped in the dark they could sue us.
You should have called those slackers boys who work for you and had them come clean the sidewalk! Hope your eyeball is doing better! I will probably try and call you today.
This is my mom's hot chocolate mix recipe. I have had a request or two for it, so I just decided to post it. I am not sure where she got it from. It is really easy to make and it makes a huge batch. Most people will probably only need a batch per winter (especially if you live in AZ). Generally my family goes through about 4 batches a winter, but we have very long, cold, winters. lol.
It tastes really good with some whip cream and red hots on the top and sometimes my mom adds a little bit of cinnamon to the recipe. So here it is. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
(btw, we still don't have any snow. This is starting to get ridiculous.)
~~~~~~ Hot Chocolate Mix ~~~~~~~
2lbs Nestle Chocolate Quick (4-5 cups)
3 cups Coffee Mate (regular or french vanilla, fv makes it richer and sweeter).
9.3 cups powdered milk
2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
pinch of salt
2 T cocoa
(optional 1 T cinnamon)
Mix all of it together. You need a really big bowl because this makes a lot. We use a big tupperware bowl with a lid and shake it to mix it. You need about 4-5 T of mix per mug. Or to taste, it really just depends on what you like.
Thanks for that. That would make great gifts, huh?
Hope you get the snow you want real soon. The kids were excited because there was snow when we got to my dad's house in Ohio. Not much but they didn't care...they were just happy to see even a little bit. It was hard to get them to unload the van because they wanted to play in the snow. They have already had the gator out in it! Lot's of fun.
I love the hoidays! They make me so happy! Even if I am having to work too much. I am almost done with my christmas shopping, and we have our tree up and lights on our house, and I am going to make gingerbread houses next week to decorate with some kids, and Britt and I stayed up and wrapped Christmas presents and watched White Christmas last night. The only thing that would make it better would be some SNOW!!! We still haven't had any besides that one day and we only got about an inch or two. This is the latest I have seen the snow hold out since we moved here. I want it to hurry up, so I can snowboard.
I am so excited because next weekend I took Friday and saturday off (I haven't done that in ages) and I am babysitting for an entire weekend. I haven't got to see these kids as much as I would like because of work. They are practically family so I am looking forward to spending a weekend with them. Their parents need to go Christmas shopping. And I am going to decorate gingerbread houses with them, do all of their pictures like I do every Fall/Winter, and we are going to work on their parents Christmas present. I bought a bunch of ceramic markers and we are going to decorate a big platter with all of their hand outlines and then they will each decorate some plates or mugs or something. So it should be fun.
Happy Holidays everyone and I hope you all are enjoying the holiday season as much as I am!!!
fun! Hey Chels- Can you please send me your mom's cocoa recipe? I want to make some just to have around when I need/want it. Thanks! Facebook will probably be more efficient than email--- i check it more ;) Thank you! Oh, and there BETTER be snow at X-mas next year! Or i might have a fit!
I am so excited for Christmas also. We just got our tree yesterday and Bradley is finishing the lights tonight. :-) I am also going to try and make a gingerbread house this year. Tonight I have this incredible desire to bake something Christmas-y. :-)
If memory serves -- the second full week of Feb (it's usually the first full week, but this year the Super B. is coming to Tampa and evidently all the hotels are booked, lol!)
I don't have time to do a confirm check right now, but I'll try to soon
here's a tidbit of info for you about white christmas, it is actually called Holiday Inn. the main song white christmas was such a hit that it took over the title name of the movie! ;) it is my favorite holiday movie. period.
