Yesterday's baptism has me wondering. While all biblical examples are of a man baptizing someone, if no man were around, is it OK for a woman to baptize another woman? Yes I know the standard answer is "find a man" but I wonder about those extreme situations where the end is coming and it is not feasible to get a male christian. What do you think???
As Charlene Ferris would say, "I don't think." The Scriptures are silent about this. However, let's consider the person of God: He's merciful, full of grace toward us, and our Provider. "He won't see the saints forsaken or the righteous begging bread."
Does the person that baptizes me influence my salvation? I sure hope not or many of us are in trouble due to preachers that have been caught up in sin.
The congregation where we now attend continued worshipping with only women back during war times. Many still fondly remember being taught and positively influenced by those godly women.
I think that in this case, the silence of the Scriptures is liberty. If God does not specify who must perform baptisms, anyone may, even a non-Christian.
1. I put my socks on standing up balancing on one foot. Don’t know why, just always have.
2. I wanted to become an architect when I was younger. I ended up changing to mechanical engineering early in college.
3. Speaking of college, it took me 10 years to complete my bachelor’s degree (going part time at night after work.)
4. I am extremely sensitive about my eyes (or other’s eyes for that matter.) I can’t stand watching Paula put in her contacts, it gives me the willies.
5. My favorite time of year is fall. It has the best weather and football season begins and baseball concludes.
6. I always take notice of what kind of car people I know drive. I can sometimes tell people what car they used to have even when they cannot remember.
7. I dip grilled cheese in ketchup. Some people find this strange; then again they put mustard on theirs.
8. I am an old man trapped in a middle aged body: I am obsessed with the weather, don’t stay up late at night, not good at video games, enjoy watching home improvement shows (Hometime, This Old House & Ask this old house), insist on taking our mail to the post office even though we have a mailbox (don’t want anyone to steal it from the mailbox don’t you know.)
I enjoyed reading this a lot. :) I would pay money to watch you wobble around putting your socks on ... assuming your socks come toward the end of the dressing process. :) Otherwise, I'll pass.
Yeah, that's great. We'll probably leave here at 12:30-1 sp we can make it to your house by 3-3:30 so we can get dressed. I don't want our tunics to wrinkle in the car. : )
Today is the first day of July and many new state and local laws are now in effect. One of those new laws is a 1% increase in Cook county sales tax bringing our local village's sales tax to 9.5%!!!!! City of Chicago is a whopping 10.25% (highest in the nation!!!!) Fortunately we live very close to neighboring Will county where sales tax is only 7%. (can't believe I just typed "only".) We have tried in the past to make purchases in Will county when possible but now it has come to the point that it is pretty much a necessity. It is great to live near "the city that works" because it is costing us a fortune to keep her employed!
And merchants throughout Cook County cry out in anguish. Oh, well; at least you have the consolation of knowing that whatever money you do spend in Cook will go to fatten the wallets of Daley's cronies. . .
Andrew and I take 80W to 180S and that turns into 29. And 29 is the road we live off of but you're on 29 for almost an hour before you get to Peoria. We've never been to Jubilee College State Park but some friends have and tbey like it.
Yes, our church address is Paris avenue. Our time services on Sunday is 10am for Bible study, 11am for worship services, and 6pm for evening worship. Was there any other questions?
This past weekend was our first camping trip of the year and first ever for Emma. I think we have a natural (like she really has a choice.) Colin had a blast as usual and he started whimpering this morning when we told him we were going home. The kids even slept through a severe thunderstorm yesterday afternoon during naptime.
There is just something about sitting out under the trees feeling the breeze and smelling the neighbors bbq in the evening or the bacon cooked out over the firepit in the morning. Camping is probably my favorite worldly thing to do. What is yours?

For me, it's a toss-up - depends on what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes Reese's are just too sweet for me, and I need the protein of the peanut M&Ms. Sometimes not, though. :)

I do know you. I do miss being there ... I am sure Margaret Street is different than how I remember it though. I do remember sitting in front of you and Paula every service ... that was before you had kids and before I was married.
