CHRISTIAN, AWAKE
(Tune: Farther Along)
When we are tried, yes, sometimes we stumble,
But we must trust in our God above.
No hole’s so deep that he cannot lift us,
No night so dark we can’t find His love.
Christian, awake and serve your Savior.
Christian, awake, the time does fly.
Now is the time that we must live for Him,
If we’re to live with Him by and by.

My class and I have been studying Proverbs for some time now. We have had so many good discussions and I have learned so much in preparing for class. For my last class I hope I can impress upon them that for any situation in life there is a proverb that will help. I asked my students to choose a favorite proverb. Two have responded so far. A third grader immediately chose: " A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger." (15:1) and a kindergartener, after class Sunday, quietly pointed out her choice: "A wise man fears and departs from evil."
Personally, I could never choose only one. Every week I read over the book and every week a different one became my favorite. My favorite today is this: "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life." (13:12) It reminds me of some of the stories I have heard on here.
So do you have one you would like to share? |
