My FINAL day of work was today!!! The Lord has been good to me and has blessed me with numerous jobs so we could make ends meet, but I am most definitely ready for a new chapter of life to begin. I was surprised to feel my eyes tear up as I exited the Chic Fil A today. I had made some pretty good friends there, but it's not like I can't go back and visit! Silly hormones!
Adam surprised me by taking me out to celebrate. (He was supposed to work tonight.) He had a bath ready for me when I came home and then we went out to a movie, hung out for a little while at Borders, and then went to PF Changs for a lovely dinner.
I know...don't tell me...I really need to start updating a little more often! Wait 8 weeks or so and there will be plenty of pictures for you to enjoy :)
Our Thanksgiving was fabulous! Days off are such fun...especially when they can be spent with family and friends.
I have 14 more days left in the working world! I am SO excited about becoming a stay-at-home wife and mom-to-be! I have plenty of housework and numerous projects waiting for me.
I am in a little bit of holiday panic mode. I have several projects "mostly" finished and some that I have not even started. I only have 10 days left! May have to put some little notes in packages reminding them that it's the thought that counts!
WOW time is moving right along for you! Can't wait to see the pictures! How exciting to only have 14 days left. You will be busy enough at home for sure! Hope you get the projects where you want them! You and Adam have a Merry Christmas, we know you will have a Happy New Year!
Wow time really does fly by. I remember how I couldn't wait to quit working and to stay at home. I still love it but it can be just as hard especially when your baby turns into a walking tornado and you feel like you just cleaned that 5 minutes ago. However, you don't always mind when you remember what the working world was like.
enjoy every minute of it! You only think you'll have time for housework once that baby gets here ;-) Trust me, you won't have near as much time as you think you will :-)
It is truly amazing how a roach can affect me! Allow me to back up...I knew that working for Rentway and in all those bug-ridden houses would have lasting effects, however this is a little ridiculous!
Monday I fell asleep a little before Adam got home. I woke up to the vision of a HUGE roach crawling across the ceiling! I promptly called Adam to see if he was close enough to get rid of it. He was only a couple of min away, so I watched the roach crawl all over the ceiling and the wall. Of course, as I heard Adam letting himself in, the roach quickly scurried behind the dresser. :(
I have been very wary the past few days, expecting to see it lurking around every corner (or over my head on the ceiling somewhere). Tonight I go in the bathroom and what do I see over the door?! Roach ALERT!! Still HUGE!! I think it was about 2.5 inches long. I went and got 2 fly swatters, knocked it down, and killed it...
By the time, this sequence of events was over, I was on the verge of hyper-ventilating (which I have NEVER done before!), and nearly crying by the time I got it dead enough to throw it outside (I was afraid it would come back to life.) However, I was very proud of myself...I really didn't think I would be able to do it!
All of this, over something that was basically the size of my big toe!
"afraid it would come back to life." Ha ha ha! Hyperventilating, crying, I can so relate to this. That's one of the reasons gave us husbands. Good job conquering!
I hate roaches also. We have had a couple of incidents with roaches/palmetto bugs. I HATE them. One morning I came across one that must have been related to the one you killed; it was about 2 inches long. I had to kill it myself, cause Jason was at work already. It took every ounce of courage I had and then some. I hate the feeling and the noise it makes when you squosh (sp?) them. They are just nasty. Glad you found the courage to get rid of it!
This is why i have a contract with a bug company to come and spray every 3 months. Roaches make me crazy. If I see one in between sprays, I call them to come out and do a quick spray. They think I'm nuts, but I don't care. We've lived here since the first of August, and I've had the house sprayed 3 times....Overkill? I don't think so.
If ever I have a confrontation (and that is what it is) with a Roach, it is a long BATTLE. I have to take deep breaths, use a very long device that puts distance between me and the Roach, and I squeel, scream and shutter. Thanks goodness I have a BRAVE man in my house that shutters also but will be my Knight in Shining Armour.
I think I had an early sonagram w/ Clara like you (7 or 8 weeks) and it wasn't very developed and only the heart was beating. So, I was surprised to see so much this time.
one of my favorite comedians commented on women and insects. he said, "i will never understand how you women can take boiling hot wax, pour it on your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root--and still be afraid of a spider." :)
I am MUCH older now...and I have a few gray hairs to prove it! My birthday was yesterday and as one of my gifts I got to go to the OB and have our 20 week ultrasound! That was TONS of fun! NO, we didn't find out the gender. We did get to see our "little one" though! He/she is quite precious! One of the first things the tech said was "Who has the big feet?!" The baby's feet are already 2 inches long and he/she weighs 13 oz! He/she also had the hiccups, which were funny to observe. The doc said all is well!
Adam took me to Maggiano's for a tasty late afternoon meal! He gave me a picture frame for our first baby picture! He also is taking me to Denver the second weekend of October for a "babymoon"!!! I am extremely excited about that! It will be nice to get to spend that much time with Adam, even if we don't get to do much else.
congrats on the birthday! oh, and i don't think gray hairs prove anything (i was going white at 16...maybe they're a sign of stress rather than age?). hope you enjoy your trip with your guy. :)
Baby...ahhh, so fun. I'm glad everything's going well with it!! Maggiano's is also great!! I went there for my birthday this year too, and it was WONDERFUL!!!
Regarding the mashed potatoes, they're not AS good as fresh ones but if you allow them to thaw out on the refrigerator a day or two before serving and perk them up by adding a little more milk and butter, they're almost as good. :) I freeze mine in containers.
Well their is the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Of course there is always the mountains. Going to the small towns and looking at the shops.
