Parents: Empower Yourself With Knowledge and Awareness 12-31-08 09:44am EST
Dear Fellow Parents,

Satan and his minions are after our children. This is nothing new. However, with informating currently having handy and speedy mediums of travel, we can learn about some of those who have an agenda to steer our children's impressionable minds away from God and his guidebook for our lives, the Bible.

The following article will help us parents be aware of just some of the idealogies Satan wants us and our children to adopt.

I am NOT sharing this article in ANY WAY to make ANY kind of political statement. My effort is pure and simple...to help encourage parents to raise their children to the glory of God as best they can. And in a war, you need to know (in my opinion) who your enemy is and how he is presenting his attacks. How can we resist Satan (James 4:7) if we are unable to recognize how he is manifesting his temptations????

Please read the following article, and I pray that it will help us all to arm ourselves in the fight for our children's hearts and minds.

Again, I am NOT trying to start any political ruckus. I am simply wanting to encourage and empower parents with knowledge of some ways Satan is coming after our children.

-----------------------

Article: Why did 18-to-29-year-old evangelicals vote for Barack Obama despite his apostasy on the fundamental moral issues of abortion and same-sex unions? They voted 32 percent for Obama, twice the percentage of that demographic group who voted for John Kerry in 2004.

Many of these young people identify "social justice" as the reason that led them to relegate the prime moral issues of life and marriage to the back burner. But the term "social justice" does not define a moral cause – it is left-wing jargon to overturn those who have economic and political power.

What caused young evangelicals, the children of the so-called "religious right," to change their moral imperatives so dramatically? Most likely it's the attitudes and decision-making they learned in the public schools, which 89 percent of U.S. students attend.

The public schools took a major left turn in the 1960s, when humanist John Dewey and the instructors he trained at Columbia Teachers College began their put-down of objective truth and authoritative notions of good and evil. In the 1970s, Sidney Simon's best-seller "Values Clarification" taught students to cast off their parents' values and make their own choices, often aided by Kinsey-trained sexperts determined to change our sexual mores.

By the 1980s, many radical anti-war activists of the 1960s had become tenured college professors, so teachers colleges and public schools opened their doors to "social justice" instruction. Among these '60s radicals was Weather Undergrounder William Ayers, who escaped prosecution only because of government misconduct in collecting evidence against him and then emerged as a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Ayers developed quite a following as he taught resentment against America. In 2008, he was elected by his peers as vice president for curriculum studies of the American Education Research Association, the nation's largest organization of education professors and researchers.

In 1983, Humanist Magazine featured an article that boasted, "The battle for mankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom." Ayers put it this way: "Education is the motor-force of revolution."

Ayers became a leading advocate of "social justice" teaching – i.e., getting students to believe that they are victims of an unjust, oppressive and racist America. Community organizers can then use these young people to vote and otherwise carry out Ayers' "revolution."

Ayers has been on a decades-long mission to transform education into anti-American indoctrination and to get young people to demand government control of the economy, politics and culture. We see the result in the 2008 post-election surveys: Seven out of every 10 voters between the ages of 18 and 29 now favor expanding the role of government and agree that the government should do more to solve the nation's problems. It's obvious which party and which candidates will get their vote.

Ayers worked closely with Barack Obama in the 1990s when Obama headed the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which gave $160 million in grants to so-called school-reform projects. Ayers and Obama guided some of this Annenberg money to community organizers such as ACORN.

The National Association of Scholars reports that use of the term "social justice" is today understood to mean "the advocacy of more egalitarian access to income through state-sponsored redistribution." That is academic verbiage for Barack Obama's assertion that he wants to "spread the wealth around."

"Rethinking Schools" is a Milwaukee-based organization that publishes instructional materials to assist teachers how to "weave social justice issues throughout the curriculum." Lessons include "Rethinking Mathematics: Teaching Social Justice by the Numbers" and "Reading, Writing and Rising Up: Teaching About Social Justice and the Power of the Written Word."

Howard Zinn, author of the anti-American "People's History of the United States," urges educators to prioritize "social justice" education over political neutrality. In a 1998 interview, he said "quiet revolution" to move us toward "democratic socialism" was his goal in writing "People's History."

The thinking of teachers is further molded at expensive conferences, financed by billing the taxpayers. The National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) sponsors seminars with titles such as "Our Work as Social Justice Educators," "Teaching for Social Justice in Elementary Schools," "Dismantling White Privilege and Supporting Anti-Racist Education in Our Classrooms and Schools" and "Creating Change Agents Who Teach for Social Justice."

This "social justice" curriculum results in a heavy cost in time not spent on the basics. Young Americans who are exposed to Ayers' radical left-wing ideas generally have little background information to help them evaluate bias and errors.

Barack Obama's selection for secretary of education is his crony Arne Duncan, who most recently made news by recommending the creation of a Chicago Social Justice High School-Pride Campus, where half the students would be homosexuals and the other half straight. Somehow that school was canceled just about the time that Obama announced Duncan's appointment.

---------------------

Okay, it's me again. I just want to add that I saw this in action when I(both as a non-Christian and a Christian) worked for several years in the public school system, both in Minneapolis, MN and in Tampa, FL. In both cities, I saw that some (SOME, not all) teachers and principals take this stuff very, VERY seriously. I was horrified at what I saw. I'll spare you the details, but it was very scary. What was even more scary was to consider that being done across the country. And what was scarier still was to consider what I saw being done, applied to my children.

mjintexasLOL... I sure don't. All my friends appear to be continent. ;)
verny_mackIs there a day next week that would be good to call you?
mreid72Just another reason why we have decided to homeschool our children.
verny_mackIt might've meant what you thought it meant.
but not really. still counting up.

Prayer Request... 12-24-08 05:18pm EST
Please pray for my wife. She started throwing up yesterday, and then felt better, which, to my understanding, is somewhat common with typical "morning sickness."

See her blog for details. My wife gets terribly sick during pregnancy. And when she does get a window where she will eat, it has to be exactly what she "craves," when she craves it, or else she will throw it up.

She will even throw up, or come close to it, when I merely suggest food options.

I am very concerned for the next few days. I don't know what is open, and she already is significantly down the path to dehydration.

Please pray for her. She needs it.
verny_mackPraying for all of you.

Sorry it took me so long to call you back! I left you a message...
lydiasmotherWell at least there is drug stores open and I do have some stuff at the house call us or contact me if you need anything. I feel for you all.
chessmanPraying.

Tell her to crave Waffle House. They're always open ;-)
(Don't you wish it was that easy :-P)
desiAlready praying...
kristindoulaWe are praying here! One thing I did not mention to Heather earlier today was Emergen-C ~ this will help to keep her hydrated and keep her electrolytes balanced! It's a fizzy powdered drink mix and it comes in a variety of flavors. It might not stay down entirely, either, but it's possible it will be something that's at least somewhat easy for her to handle...and I'd think even if some of it comes up, she would still have gotten some benefit before it does. I can't imagine what she is going through, and I wish I could help!!!
littlebitWe are praying for you all!
aggiemegI will pray, of course.
the_ghostWell I guess that it's appropriate that her initials are HG. (Hyperemesis Gravidarum, that is.) Hang in there brother. I've been there....4 times. Unfortunately the the only thing that worked for us was Zofran (which now has a generic equivalent) and IV fluids. Let us know if you need anything.
all_gods_childrenHeather will be in my prayers. I'm sorry to hear that. I get the same way...so I do empathize. It stays until the end of pregnancy for me. I pray it will get easier for her! Hugs from afar!
sunnytabI have a box of lollipops that have vitamin B6 in them that really helped me. they're non-prescription but recommended by my doctor. I'd be happy for her to have them if either of you think they'll work. Also, the hubby is a pharmacist so if you guys ever need his medical advice I'l be happy to give you his number. Hoping it gets better soon, I'm almost 18 weeks and still having a difficult time with the "all day" sickness.
cmvermontpraying. love you guys!
cmvermontjust read the post below. i've never had that "part ceasar" idea on my own. thanks for sharing it with me :)
jkmramphenergan always helped me (child sized dosage, 12.5mg)

how long does her nausea usually last?
pollymhwill pray. poor thing! I hope she feels better soon. I can relate to the way she's feeling and just hope that it will be over soon.
bbeasleyYour name was lit up on my blog and I was hoping to see a good update on Heather's condition. I'm still praying.
erica03Your name was lit up on mine, too. Weird.
patermagisterCongrats on the pregnancy and I'll pray for the pregnant.
wacaseyAnytime!
aikenapeHey Fredric! It's good to "see" you on here. I hope Heather feels better soon. I didn't know y'all were expecting #3. Congrats!

Satan's Big Lie 12-23-08 02:56pm EST
Jesus taught His disciples to pray to the Father, "your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

Well, I am convinced that some friends of mine and I have fallen prey, in part, to a big fat lie of Satan.

Maybe it's because the line, "your will be done" follows "your kingdom come." You see, those lines rhyme, and when lines rhyme like that, sometimes we as Americans say rhyming lines in sort of a drone-ish, trance-like way. (just listen to any preacher, who you would think as an orater might not be constrained by the social norms of public speaking, read a song in his sermon. Most times I have experienced this, his reading is not governed by the meaning of words of the song, but by the same trance-like way so many of us read poetry.)

Anyway, so why do I say that Satan has seduced me and some of my friends with a big FAT lie???

Because Jesus said, in praying to the Father, "Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

Well, how many Christians do you know that back away from having God's will done on earth, just as it is in Heaven? How many Christians, by their action(or rather, INaction) show a nonchalance regarding the laws that are enacted in America.

Now, please know that I do NOT believe the political forum is the primary focus of what Jesus is talking about. He preached His kingdom, from start to finish...but His kingdom is spiritual, not earthy.

However, I DO believe that in praying something, we ought to, as one of my elders taught me years ago, "give God something to work with." And it seems to me that I have a responsibility, (one I have neglected far too often as a Christian) to help make sure that God's will is done on earth, while I just sit back and let Satan's cronies project their moral rebellion against God.

And it seems to me, that God in the New Testament teaches STRONGLY that every government (whether moral or immoral) needs to be obeyed by every Christian...except where that government goes against the teachings of God. Than a Christian is to obey God over the earthly government.

And I believe STRONGLY what Jesus taught about rendering to Caesar what is Caesar's.

In light of that, I cannot ignore that in the USA, a nation where the government exists by the consent of the governed, in our democratic-republic (we are neither democracy or republic, but a melding of both concepts), in a nation where the collective will of the people(when focused enough) can change the course of the nation within 24 hours, that EVERY single American citizen is PART CAESAR!

Therefore, with each Christian sharing in the role of Caesar, it seems to me that we, as Christian individuals who affect the laws of this nation, have as one way to let our light shine and influence God's will being done on earth, as it is in Heaven, the opportunity to take advantage of our ability to influence laws.

Do you get me? (My oldest daughter's favorite phrase!)

I mean, really, do you get me?

To summarize, I believe we as Christians have a responsibility to encourage the doing of God's will on earth, just as it is being done in Heaven. And that responsibility carries itself into every area of our lives of Christian service.

Now, for American citizens who are Christians, there is a special opportunity to respond to our duty to encourage the doing of God's will, by utilizing our power as being part-Caesar. We live in a land where the government exists by consent of the governed, thus we have power to influence laws.

And I am revealing my historic negligence to this unique responsibility. I have friends who feel the same way.

So what is the BIG FAT lie of Satan????

That sin(God's will NOT being done) is going to be happen anyway, so I am just going to stand still and do nothing.

Be real...don't we see that happen a lot with Christians regarding politics???

And please...do NOT lump me into some group of professed Christians that act as if the Republican party is God's chosen party. Come on. That would only be asserted by someone who doesn't really know me.

I am just a Christian who zealously wants God's will to be done on earth, just as it is in Heaven.

I learned that from my King.
dehutmomEvil prevails when good men do nothing. :(
1cor9_19Yeah, but that is not politically correct.... and you may offend someone!
Well, not offend. (they don't mind sinning) it may make someone UNCOMFORTABLE!
What??? Do you think we are in a war or something? (2 Cor 10:3-4, Eph 6:12)
Do you think we have the right to PUSH our agenda on others? (2 Cor 5:11).
I don't get what you are saying.

OK- all foolishness aside, this is an exceptional post.
I am so happy when people (you) not only stand up for truth, and for the kingdom... but also have the boldness to encourage others to do so.

Thank you.
jdiemanVery good points.
chessmanGood thoughts, Frederic. The only angle I might add is that our personal actions and interactions are far more important than our votes. For example, the battle against abortion will not be won at the ballot box, in Congress, or even in the Supreme Court. It will be won (and I think it is being won, at least the first stage of it) in the hearts and minds of Americans who are finally coming to understand that a baby counts as a person. They see this not through activists, but through the actions of caring people who show they care for the unborn child and the mother of that child.
Now, brother, I know you, and I know you strive to show Christ fully every day, and do a pretty amazing job of it, and you're absolutly right that we need to think of our political responsibilities. Thanks.
heatherj81Hi. She says that vitamins are not as well absorbed as the vitamins in food, and so if the mother is able to eat well, there is no need for them...but in a case like mine, she thinks it's more important to have some in me, even if they aren't absorbed well...the problem has been keeping them down, but I'm trying hard!

An untimely word... 12-19-08 04:52pm EST
This is real and actual dialogue between my daughter, Noelani (age 5), and me.

10 minutes before her violin performance. (which you can read about on her blog.)

Me: "Noelani, Daddy is so proud of you for practicing, and working hard to be the best you can be. Would you like me to pray for you to have fun and to play well?"

Her: "Look! A Snowman!"

Last night-

Me: (standing her on the table to look me directly in the eye for my intended moment of familial intimacy) "Noelani, I am so honored to be your daddy. I am thankful for your heart, and how you always let your light shine. Thank you for living your life to obey God and to obey your parents."

Her: "That's weird! Your cheeks look like strawberries!"

A few days ago-

Me: "Noelani, you have been obeying really good lately, and I am so proud of you. You make me happy and you make God happy when you obey."

Her: "I just tooted. Excuse me for my flatulation!"

I just don't know what else to add to this post. :)

Here's an addition...it occured five hours after making this post.

With my daughter laying in bed, she and I had the following exchange. (I always like to have her last moments awake being me telling her something good she did that day, praising her, or thanking her for something she did, etc.)

Me: "You know when I called home today, and you wrote down an email address for mommy? That helped me SO MUCH! You are going to be a great helper to your husband. Thank you for being such a great helper! You make me so happy to be your daddy."

Her: "Oooooh, yummy! You smell like pizza!"

verny_mackThis made me laugh out loud! Plus the fact that its after 2 in the morning , it makes everything seem more funny. :) hey sorry i havent called back...just some stuff going on. I guess i'll call on monday. :)
terryfrancisI'm just impressed she knows the word flatulation.
holliback2How cute and funny makes me laugh reading it.
amy_szaboHA! I love this post!
all_gods_childrenI don't know if I would be able to keep a serious face after those kinds of comments! She's too precious! I just love it!!

I absolutely love the way you give her the moral reason why she does the things she does. It's so important and will definitely stick with her in life. Especially into adult hood. Most parents don't do that. You are an awesome Papa!
green_gourmetGlad to hear we are not the only ones!:)
all_gods_childrenOh, and you are very good with giving your girls verbal praise. How important that is coming from the Papa! Mama's are always the nurturing ones, but somehow it's so much more meaningful coming from the Papa.
gkbakerWhat a sweet dad you are!
crazy_mamaFor the record, I DID NOT teach her the word flatulation. That would be daddy! Oh and your cheeks were red the other night, kinda like strawberries!
julied93Hee hee- too funny!
lifeisgooodMy son does the same thing! I love it!
jodimnCute. Keep telling her, because no matter what her response she is listening.
