It is mybeautifulwife's birthday today. Everyone go and wish her a Happy Birthday. She is now 27. Pretty old if you ask me... (I can say that since I'm ONLY 26).
SMACK! There that's for Amber. LOL Craig does the exact same thing to me except he reminds me that for 4 months I am TWO YEARS older than him, :eyeball roll:
Isn't this picture from last year? You better be taking a cake home to her today or cooking dinner for her or something...especially after your comment above! :)
The days that I have had off for the holidays have been great. Some of the highlights include:
- Special time with my wonderful family.
- Watching hours of "Leave it to Beaver", as there was a marathon on for a few days. Until about a month ago, I had never seen it before... but now I think it's great, along with "Little House on the Prairie". What are your some of your favorite "old" (I might get in trouble for saying that) shows that are great family shows?
- Getting uno'd (UNO). Alyssa's new favorite game which she has been very dominant at.
- The stomach bug....
- Enjoying my iron gym pull up bar - which is holding up great!
- Our tomatoe plant which had 6 tomatoes growing on it suddenly died. I was sure to bring it inside every freeze, and it had plenty of water, so I'm not sure what happened. Any ideas?
- Last, but certainly not least, some great football. Especially WVU's win over NCU. What a sensational game! WVU is going to miss this man: Pat White
He broke a record today by being the first quarterback to start for four bowl games and to win them all. These bowl games included Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, and North Carolina. What an electrifying player (that is a different video than the last). WVU will miss him. I look forward to seeing him in the pro's.
Hope ya'll have a GREAT holiday season. Remember to pray for kim.
I like Little House too. Is everyone feeling better? That's no fun. You forgot to mention Scattergories!! ;) Maybe you gave it too much water or not enough sunlight.
One year PawPaw received season 2 of the Waltons for Christmas. I remember watching it for hours on end. Some would argue with me, but they just don't make TV shows like they did back then. I can't forget Andy and deputy Fife!
Little House is great! I always liked the old Mission Impossible, but they don't show it and it is not a "kid friendly" program. I also like My Three Sons. Sounds like maybe you overwatered your tomato plant.
We thought and talked about you during the game yesterday. Exciting, indeed. Would love to see you guys. We'll have to get together. It's been great having Z & A here with us.
Man from Uncle, Green Hornet (it only ran for 1 yr.), Adam-12, were my favorite. But you did says family shows I Love Lucy, Get Smart, The Waltons just to name a few. I even liked the retro commericals like Wendy's the one where the 3 old ladies are commenting on the bun "It's a big bun" and the one old lady says "Where the beef"
I still love Little House on the Prairie. And I loved Matlock and Murder She Wrote! (I consider anything that only plays on reruns old :))
Glad you had a nice holiday!!
How true that is. I came across that quote in college, and it has stuck with me ever since.
1) We really enjoyed our trip to Houston this past weekend, which was very eventful but went too fast. Here are a few of the things:
- Enjoyed the company of great people.
- Ate way way too much good food - which I am always looking for a good excuse to do that.
- Enjoyed playing the rock band on the wii (my favorite instrument was the drums).
- Played my fair share of the basketball shooting game at Chucky Cheese (I love that game). We were trying so hard to get a score of 90, so we could get 100 tickets (which would probably get the kids a tootsie roll lol). But we came up short, with Brian coming the closest with 83 points (which was pretty good, even if he beat me).
2) I had been looking for a pull-up bar that is self-supporting and does not need to be screwed in to a door frame (my other one is still in place at my parents house, screwed into the door frame - sorry dad). Here's what I found: Iron Gym. It's very affordable, requires no attachment, has great reviews, and functions by positioning on the door frame. I have used it for 3 days so far, and it has worked great. But the question, is if my molding can hold up to test. I will let you know if it doesn't (which if it doesn't I will be very irritated).
3) Remember to keep Kim in your prayers. She is being such a wonderful example in a difficult time.
I wondered the same thing when I saw the commerical for the pull up bar. My first thought was 'what a great idea' followed quickly by 'I bet it ruins the moulding!' Glad you guys had a great trip!
2.) I have a self-supporting chinup bar, and I had a guy bigger than you do it with no issue on my moulding...nice. The black padding wear off and leaves grayish marks though, so put some tape on it. Take care brother.
First things first: Did you notice the GATOR NATION is still playing football? Glad y'all had a good trip and got back safely. I'm interested to know how #2 works out; I was thinking of getting one for Eric for Christmas. Maybe you should put some padding on the floor underneath your workout spot -just in case. LOL.
Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving down in H-town, especially the Chucky Cheese games! lol Hmm, you'll have to keep us posted on that pull up bar. That could be something I'm sure Ryan would like around here.
LOL...I so remember doing that. And I didn't "pop" you in the mouth I "karate chopped" you in the mouth!! BAHAHAHAH!!! I also remember you didn't find it as funny as I did at the time. But it is Hilarious now!!!
How is the Iron Gym working out? I got one for Eric for Christmas without waiting for your review. Is it safe? Is it effective? Are you using it? Anything? Go Gators.....
I'm with you--A for Willy Wonka! I keep telling Dan that I want to see it again. Maybe we can have you guys over for a WW&CF party (BYOC: Bring your own chocolate:)
WVU likes to play possum this year.... play dead at home and get killed on the road. Fortunately, the season isn't over yet, with Louisville, Pitt, & USF coming up. I don't think I can handle another loss to Pitt & USF. Especially Pitt. But I should go ahead and emotionally prepare myself (gulp)...
After this year, we are really going to miss Pat White. He is the man. Next year, we will need some Devine help. That guy is just fun to watch.
A few other things going on:
- Alyssa is at the stage now where she always wants to help and do nice things for us. I just love it. Sunday morning I came home from church, and went to the dining table to find a sandwhich already made for me - with enough mayonaisse for about 5 sandwhiches. Best sandwhich I've ever had (smile).
- Cactuses are the way to go. It seems like we have the hardest time keeping plants alive and healthy. We either forget to water them, or water them too much. Our most thriving plant is a cactus.
- I'm not ready for Christmas songs to come on the radio yet. I don't know, for some reason I'm just not feeling it this year. It just feels too soon. Not to be jumping the ball, because we still have a couple of weeks.
A mayo sand. huh? That's so sweet! We were in a store like a week or so ago and they already had Christmas songs on! I guess it makes people want to buy stuff.
when I was about 6 or 7, my cousin, Jen Brainard, and I wanted to make breakfast for her parents. We wanted to do it all by ourselves- we got up to an early start- at about 3 am!! Well, my job was reading the ingredients out, and Jen would put them into the bowl and mix it all together, to make waffles. At about 5 am, my grandmother woke up because of our noise... took one taste of the waffles, and made us try them. Somewhere, 1 tsp. of salt was translated to 1 CUP of salt.... MMMMmmmm, waffles!! :)
Thanks for the link/info re: Tampa area congregations. I will be ready. Also, thanks for the prayers on Eric's behalf; we continue to pray for Kim and her family at this unbelievably difficult time.
I was actually a student there 5 years ago and I am ashamed to admit that I didn't follow that game. That was pretty impressive. It's hard for me to follow basketball and baseball...so many games and short attention span. Who is WV playing this weekend?
Hey Derek! Thanks for your advice on mono. It has been nearly 3 months since my first symptoms. I can tell that i'm not 100%. About 4pm, i usually get super tired and need a nap.
Where are you living now, texas? Talk to you later.
Only one more day! I'm excited. I feel like this has been one of the most needed breaks from school ever! : ) I'm getting to catch up on all the things I neglect while I'm in school. Also, I can't wait to see Alyssa. That's so cute about the mayo! haha. Does she eat her sandwiches with that much mayo, too?
It is amazing to me that it is coming up on 5 months since my last post. Seems like just a few blinks ago... we are just very thankful for the people that we have in our lives. We are very blessed.
2) Forgive me for my short-comings with pleonast. I haven't kept up with it very well here recently.
3) We very much enjoyed and had great success in our gospel meeting with David Banning. Awesome lessons full of life-application.
4) The WV Mountaineers kind of stink this year, and the offense has been painful to watch/ not good for my health. Oh well. There's still half of the season left (which could potentially be good or very bad), and hopefully things get better - for WV and the big East (also known as the big least, which I'm not going to argue this year). I'm looking forward to the Auburn tigers... hopefully we'll show them why it's dumb to fire your offensive coordinator during the middle of year (had to throw that in there).
yeah, that firing really helped. I'm not really sure why you fire a guy and then use the same gameplan the next week. I was told that Auburn handed the ball off only 9 times during their game against Arkansas last week. Go figure [scratching head].
yeah it is going to be tough to watch on both fronts. Luckily our defense and special teams have actually been scoring points which has allowed us to win a few games, but our defense is getting worn down for sure.
I think we'de both be happier if this game was when both teams were looking good. Instead of the best team winning we're stuck with the worst team will lose...kinda stinks
I'll be rooting big time for WVU against auburn. I think ya'll can beat them whether or not they fired their OC. But that was a pretty bone-headed move on their part. Our season (Alabama) is going well. I'm enjoying it while I can. With this team, you just never know...
Thank you for visiting my page! We REALLY enjoyed lunch with you three on Sunday. I hope we can do it again sometime soon. Good luck with school. GO GATORS!!!
Whad'ya mean the Mountaineers kinda' stink this year? There's no kinda' to it. They stink. Flat out. The skunk has sprayed. Whew ... holding my breath. It's been that bad. So much talent ... and so little performance. Perhaps after their last BIG win over Syracuse (Division I Cellar Dwellers), the Mountaineers are ready to take on the mighty SEC. Seriously, it would be nice to see the Mountaineers actually show up for a game and play like they are capable of. After plunking out the bucks to watch them twice on ESPN GamePlan, I'm ready to see them do something on regular old ESPN for free Thursday night. Until then, Gooooooooooo Mountaineers! BTW, I caught teelduo's comment above about you not being as strange as your daddy. We know better. The nut didn't fall far from the tree!
