This is the first year I haven't had any resolutions. It feels so strange! I love that aspect of the New Year. I guess we were just so busy this year that I haven't had a chance to give it much thought.
We were blessed to have our dear friends, Borgar and Sana come visit all the way from Norway in early December. It was wonderful seeing them! And, my guestroom got a overhaul just in time for their visit. It was really neat getting to decorate a room. Bryan and I considered that our Christmas present to each other. We began that project in September by having a big garage sale. We sold the old furniture along with a bunch of stuff we cleaned out of the house. Then, it took us a few months to get it furnished and decorated. Those decorating shows make it look so easy!
Then, we began getting ready for our big trip to Toronto, Canada. Bryan's sister Heather lives there with her husband Dave and their four precious kids. We left AL Christmas Day. We had a great time seeing where they live and meeting some of the members of the church there. The best part was just visiting with each other. It's such a blessing to be a part of a sweet family who are also dedicated Christians.
We got home from that trip January 3rd. (Did I mention we drove there and back?) So, I'm still working on getting the laundry and other asundry household tasks squared away. Annalise was sick the week between Christmas and New Year's. She's doing great now but still is waking 1-2 times a night. We have a re-check for her ears today and I'll be glad when that appointment is behind us. Holding your child down while she screams in agony doesn't rank very high on my list of favorite things to do.
So, I'll get to those New Year's Resolutions very soon hopefully.
I hope you all are having a happy and healthy New Year!
I'm with you on not wanting to hold your child down...I've had a few of those moments and you're right, they're not fun. Glad you all are back safe and that the trip was fun!
We're just coming up for the day. It's a lot of driving in one day, but it's better for Aaron to only take one day off, and that way Caroline's sleeping isn't messed up too bad.
Yeah I know! My back is unbelieveably sore though. I need to buy one to get those muscles working! I would have never though a trampoline would make your back sore. =I Starting the new year was kind of weird. There was a meeting the first three days of January and the weird thing was writing down the date for taking notes. Hope Annalise gets to feeling better soon!
Holding them down to "suck their nose" is the WORST thing I ever had to do. It upset my mom so much she wouldn't even help me do it!
So cool that you got to make such a wonderful trip! Neat, too, that you got to visit with your friends from Norway. One of the things I love about having company is that it makes me get stuff done in the house that I tend to overlook...
Now now---- Lydia still won't do it, I don't make her although her G-mother insists I sit her on his lap with her screamin' just won't do it!!!! LOL she will not like you for posting that some day--LOL
It is required under the "Parent Act of 1786" (or sometime around then) that every family have at least one of these pictures in their album...Now that you have met that requirement, you can move ahead with your parenting... ;)
I love it! Abby's first santa pic we sheltered her eyes and backed her up to the man so she didn't notice who had her for a few seconds! Happy holidays!
I think she was much happier today. =) It was great getting to see all of you! and getting a chance to really make friends with Annalise. =) We didn't have much of a chance at Thanksgiving.
I loved being with her! She's so beautiful! I especially like that smile =) and she's so well behaved! You and Bryan are doing really well with her. All of you are so much fun. Y'all need to come see us more often! Anyway, it was fun!
I've got some pics i wanna send you so I need your email address. You should be able to see mine on my blog so send me an email if you don't wanna post it on pleonast.=]
One thing I missed about living in Norway, was having the opportunity to teach children's Bible classes. Then, I had Annalise and I was not available to teach here at our home congregation. Now, Annalise is in her own Bible class and I'm teaching again! It's just great. I teach the 3 and 4 year olds and they are so precious. Here's a couple of cute exerpts:
I told one little boy who was having trouble with his construction paper craft to just copy mine. He picked up my paper and headed to the door. I said, "Where are you going Jackson?" He said, "I'm going to go make a copy." He was headed to the copy machine. So cute. I then had to explain that I meant for him to look at mine and make his the same way.
The same little boy was a little shaken a couple of weeks ago when I was telling the story of Abraham offering Isaac. He was especially disturbed when I showed a picture of the ram on the altar. He said, "Is that bad?! Is that OK? Is it burning him?" So, I called his mom the next day and told her that I had tried to explain the story in simple terms but I wasn't sure Jackson understood and that he seemed a little upset. Lo and behold that same day, she had lectured him about never, ever hurting an animal after he had almost kicked a cat. No wonder he was confused.
Yes they are wonderful. I just noticed that when she is 4 her b-day will be 11-11-11 cool beans, you will have to do something really rad for that!!!!!
I bet you are a PHENOMENAL Bible class teacher!!! And SO very respectful of you to inform that boy's mom. Such consideration, effort, and love, is great! (and TOTALLY indicative of your wonderful heart!)
Yes I do! Alex let us know this week that in the song "My God is so Big" the line that says "the stars are his handy work" is actually "his CANDY work"!!
thank you so very much for being my friend at Florida College. You were SO encouraging to me, someone I could trust and be myself with...totally relaxed and not on guard at all...you were so spiritually uplifting, and I always appreicated your honesty. Your friendship also was a crutch to me at times (a healthy crutch!)...thank you for being my friend at a time when I really needed it.
We had a great birthday party for Annalise! She loved balloons, cake icing, people and presents. We were so thankful to be surrounded by loved ones on her special day.
Junior mints i just love junior mints!!!! Great time had by all and little messy face sure did like that frosting huh? Lydia HATED it!! Now she loves it perferably without cake--LOL
thanks for sharing, Stephanie! And that's a really cute cake/birthday girl! ladybug cake was Noelani's first, as well! Are you guys coming to lectures this year for Bryan's reunion?
When I first saw these pics I noticed that she has been blessed with lots of beautiful hair. But after digging up a 1 yr pic of our Hannah I realize just how much beautiful hair Annalise has. We did have our first bangs cutting not too long ago, so she's growing it now, but it's been slow comparitavely. We can get pig tails and not too far from a pony tail.
