After about 4 days in bed and antibiotics I'm through with the flu and sinus infection. Now I can enjoy the rest of my vacation.
Got some great movies for Christmas :-)
Picket up a bag of queso (pretty cheap thanks to Moe's) and had a great family game night with Pit and Hearts. Good times :-)
I'm so glad I have such a cute daughter. She's started imitating various sounds and noises. It's like having the most adorable parot in the world hahaha.
...no word as yet about job changes. So I decided I'm not going to worry about it anymore. Just pray, and move with the cheese :-)
What movies did you get? Xerox gave us a statistic that 70% of the jobs in 5 years will be doing technologies that right now do not exist. That is staggering. But I guess try to look at some fledgling tech companies and think outside the box. Or start one. You certainly have the talent. Praying for you.... hugs to Megan and Emily.
I got a great movie for Christmas: Enchanted. Another one was good, but not what I hoped for, Sleeping Beauty (already had it on VHS - clamshell, but Mom got the DVD since they're locking it in the 'vault' or whatever). Then someone decided to give me the dual pack of My Girl and My Girl 2. Really?? How old is that movie? They're OK, I guess, but sometimes I just wish my family would make a donation on my behalf instead of getting me random gifts that I don't want/need.
Maybe I'll make that suggestion before next year...
The video of the Middle-Eastern journalist throwing his shoes at President Bush makes me want to laugh, yet still makes me sad at the lack of respect for the Presidential office.
I finish Who Moved my Cheese? today. It's a good book! Not at all what I was expecting.
Our last team meeting of the year is tomorrow. This is the time when new positions/changes could be announced. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
I FINALLY got my Eagle Scout ring the other day! It only took 4 years but I'm so proud of it! I'll have to post pictures after I get some taken :-)
I thought the point of "Who Moved My Cheese" was worth noting, but the way the book was written really annoyed me. Fortunately, it took only about 20 minutes to read, so I wasn't annoyed for long. And as obvious as the point seems, it really has helped me to better deal with a lot of stuff in my life, even if I haven't been able to use it to move "forward" so-to-speak.
i think my mom read Who Moved My Cheese a few years ago and she said it was pretty good too! Are you done with school this semester.. and what are you going for again??
I don't have anything major to say. This is a 60+ hr. work week so I'm kinda pooped.
I get paid to take the week of Christmas and the week of New Year's off, so I'm pretty excited about that.
I completed 2 of the 3 books on my reading list this year: The Once and Future King and The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, I did not read War and Peace and I don't think I can read fast enough to read it in 2 weeks. So I'm plotting my reading list for 2009. Suggestions are more than welcome.
Here's what I've got so far:
"Who Moved my Cheese"
"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
"The Crystal Cave"
"The Millionaire Next Door"
I'm considering starting some Tom Clancy too.
Also, please pray for me right now. I'm pretty stressed and there are going to be "a lot of changes" at work according to my boss. I'm hoping that this could mean bigger and beter things for me...but you never know.
I've been keeping really busy with working 55-60 hours a week on average, and being a good husband/daddy. I know it will pay off in the end though :-)
Emily is now taking steps! She can walk across a room...when she wants to.
Thanksgiving was great! Emily got to see her four-legged cousin and the rest of the family. We spent the whole time in Lake Charles and ate some really great food, played fun games, and got to catchup on a lot of things.
Had our Florida belated Thanksgiving yesterday. We've started a tradition of having a gingerbread house contest....followed later in the week by gingerbread house demolition. Kate totally won with "Obama's Crib". She made a black White House and sprinkle some coins on top (change). Quite amusing.
I'm learning to ride a motorcycle an hour at a time. I'm getting pretty good! Soon I'll go get my permit, then take the class to get my endorsement on my license.
That's it for now seeing as it's Sunday afternoon and prime nap time!
well, it depends on how you mean. do you mean you have no intention to go to nursing school, so would it be worth getting your CNA? or do you mean you'd rather be an RN somewhere besides a hospital? CNAs make about $11/hour around here and it's a tough job. so that's your call. frankly i don't really get it when people work as a CNA and then don't want to advance to nursing.
