Last week, New Years Eve, I hit the big 3-0 mark. Yep, I'm now 30 years old! That's still a little difficult to say. It's kinda strange to think that I am now an official adult (not even a young adult anymore). Yikes!! But putting that part of being 30 out of my mind, I am determined that my 30's will be the best years yet. My friends and family certainly made this birthday VERY SPECIAL. On my birthday eve, a friend and I went to the historic Brown Palace Hotel for a massage in their spa. The massage was absolutely wonderful and the hotel is undoubtedly the most exquisite, extravagant place I've ever seen! Then we continued our fun day by eating at the cheesecake factory and spending the night at the Hyatt. We had such a great time!! Then my birthday gift from my family was a ticket to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Jan 2!!!!! This was SO EXCITING! Texas Tech played Ole Miss, and unfortunately lost the game, but it was so fun getting to be there!!
So anyway, I arrived back home today and am exhausted after all my fun. And unfortunately its back to the old busy work routine tomorrow. :(
Happy new year everyone!!
I'm glad that you had fun! I wish we could have hung out some too, and no, you didn't sound like an idiot... just super excited! Very entertaining, too :)
not a young adult? oh please! you're a young adult until your dentures accidently fall out at a party while talking about all of your ailments with your gray-haired friends!
I'm sorry I didn't plan better so that we could've visited. The truth be told I was even a little board at home with not much going on. Happy Birthday btw. I guess you'll always be the one blazing the trail with the birthdays. I'll be 30 next year too. Hope you're doing well. How are things going in the church? You're going to Smokey Hill still right?
So I am super excited as I'm sitting here listening to David Cook's new single!! It's awesome!! I've missed him this summer! :) Can't wait till his whole album comes out.
I am also so excited that fall has officially arrived. It's definitely the best time of year!!
Here are some reasons why:
1. the chill in the air that gives much needed relief from the hot days of summer!
2. the trees changing colors!!
3. football!
4. a new season of our favorite TV shows (mine being smallville, which has started off great!!)
5. I get to wear all my favorite sweaters again!
6. Halloween!!!
Another obvious Fall event: VOTING!!!! Yeah, the early voting is officially now over & I have 4 days off (Friday-Monday) till working Tuesday's Election Day!! Gonna be a busy day I'm sure.
Well I would not be my mama's daughter if I did not take this time to remind you all to take a moment to stop and commemorate this anniversary of the passing of the King of Rock and Roll. You can do this by listening to his music, or watching one of his movies (Blue Hawaii would be my favorite). Thank you, thank you very much.
Today (17th) is my dad's 74th birthday! I heard Elvis has been gone roughly 30 yrs. I remember watching some of his movies when I was teen...and no, I'm not that old, they were reruns!!
So, usually when you hear of a record being broken, it's a good thing, but not in this case. The other day, Colorado broke the record for the most consecutive days in the 90's. That's one record I certainly did not want to break. If I wanted to be that hot I would move to Texas!! :) But I did have some peace of mind, when on Aug 1, as I was thinking that I can't believe it's already August, I also thought that before I know it, it'll be snowing!! Bring on the snow!!
Those of you who have a song as your ringtone instead of the typical ring, do you find yourself hearing your phone ringing when it's not? I experience this phantom ring all the time!! I can't tell you how many times I'll be driving along in the car, listening to music, when all of a sudden I hear a faint sound, and I think "is that my phone?" So I look at the phone and of course it's not ringing, so I put it back down. And then a little later it'll happen all over again! It drives me crazy!!
Do you guys have a favorite place? Mine is definitely Barnes & Noble. I could go there anytime and probably spend the whole day. If I'm ever in the vicinity of the store, it's really hard not to stop and go in. This probably isn't surprising to those of you who know I worked in a bookstore for 5 years.
Have you guys been to see Batman yet? If not, what are you waiting for?? That movie was incredible!! My entire family, being the huge Batman fans that we are, naturally went opening weekend. So much happens in this movie that by the end I felt like I had to catch my breath, and all I could say was "Wow!" Definitely a masterpiece!
I'm glad to see the weather here a little cooler. We had friends from CA stay all last week thinking they'd be in a cooler place for a change but it wasn't (90's as you well know). They left Saturday and "Lo & behold" its now in the 80's. My favorite places are the Goodwill/Thrift stores (You can find some great deals on used books there) and also craft stores like JoAnns/Michaels/Hobby Lobby. Yes, I saw the Batman movie for the 1st time last week. There were several places in the movie that I laughed out loud...remember us laughing @ the Sweeney Todd flick? Yeah, us wierd gals got to stick together!!!
So, I got your message, but things have been a little crazy... I did get your card. I loved it!! Thanks for the gift card. I bought the original Get Smart series!
We'll see when I get around to seeing Batman. You know, I'm totally a procrastinator ;) You can probably guess my favorite place. (Hint: it's not a store.)
Thought I'd share this random fact that I was told today. Did you know a hamburger costs more per pound than a car? Something to think about the next time your at burger king, sonic, etc. :)
Hey Erika...How fun is this? I get to not only see you at worship but get to "pleonast" with you too!! Fun Times! Hey, We could pretend that CS stands for Colorado Springs and not College Station! Ha! But there are definitely people in both those places that I love.
