melancholy and joy 12-01-08 10:45pm EST
My baby turned 3 yesterday and today my big girl lost her first tooth.

I don't know if I want to cry or smile.
jayAs long as she has teeth to replace the lost one, then you can smile. ;O)
smiley_bethI can't believe how quickly they grow up. Are you doing the Tooth Fairy?
cruisingmomIt is their job to grow up. That does not keep it from being sad.
Dec 1, 2008 will be memorable for Willow and Grandpa.

green_gourmetBoth. Definitely:)
matermagistraAwwww...I was looking at Ben's pics on his blog...little Rosie has really grown up.
whipsmile:-)
lorileigh:) How old was Willow when she got her first tooth?
kellydid someone hit her, cause i don't remeber a tooth even being loose the past few days while i was in town?
ashleybsmile...it will worry they girls if they see you cry! :) thanks for you sweet comment! i hope i glow more than just this greenish glow i've had for weeks :) i am very excited though and its really cute ryan keeps looking at me saying " its okay honey its for a good cause!" he's wonderful!
tommyswifeThey are so cute! Be excited with them and then let Ben hug you while you shed tears after they go to bed. We all have the right to a good cry now and then! :) Love you and enjoyed being with you yesterday!
waerickWould either the weekend of the 13th or the 20th work for you guys? Is one better than the other?
all_gods_children I'd probably cry. ;o)

November, please slow down... 11-16-08 08:32pm EST
With a 5 year old and soon to be 3 year old, I am very excited about the holidays this year. I, however, have so much I want to do, to celebrate, I have no idea how to fit it all in. Next week we are having 3 gatherings. I am so excited, but there is much work to do.

Tonight we brought home 6 more young, BIG, healthy Boer goats. Two, however, will not be around after Wednesday. The goat business is definitely rolling and I can't wait till next Spring, to see our own "kids" born, instead of buying them all from someone else.

My husband is amazing, patient, strong, caring, determined, dedicated, loving and somehow seems to get the work of 5 men done on a daily basis. I ADORE him. (I know that was random, but sometimes I just need to yell that kind of thing out.)

I can not control myself with that chex "muddy buddy" stuff. I made some last week, when I was in the holiday spirit, and nearly finished the bag by myself (in a very short time.) I am also addicted to the homemade chex mix (forget the store stuff!) I love both mixes so much, that I only allow myself to make them at the holidays, because of my lack of self control. What is your favorite holiday guilty pleasure? I also have TWO cookie exchanges coming up, so any ideas for that would also be appreciated!

curlieMy mom makes an awesome Golden Graham mix that has pretzel sticks and peanuts in it. YUM. Now I want to make some! ;)
cmayI know you mean something we have actually tried, but I thought I would share this site with you for future reference.
Christmas Cookies
matermagistrammm...I love the puppy chow stuff that is made from chex cereal.

This should definitely be a memorable holiday season this year. Don't you love those ages?
carabooooo, homemade chex mix. i love when it's warm and out of the oven. mmmm....
kellyi'm glad that i'll be seeing you in less than 2 weeks, but didn't you just like yesterday post that 'yip~pee november is here,' and now we've blinked and it's 1/2 over. guilty holiday pleasure.... why is it that taking a reese's cup and putting it in a tree shape makes it take even yummier? cookie exchange... duh - use your chocolate drop with powered sugar thingys, know what i'm talkin bout? LOVE YOU!
lefantstafmashed potatoes beat out everything for me during the holidays. i very rarely have room for the desserts. unless there are coconut balls.
whipsmileoooo, i want chex mix now, not the kind you get from a bag, but the homemade kind.
mmmm
amcmichaelso then maybe we can but our goats from you all??? That would be awesome. We really want to get some but just haven't taken the leap! I have been really wanting Truffles we made a bunch last year for the holidays and am about to get started with the baking again! I love puppy chow too! It's awesome. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
smiley_bethPeanut butter balls (aka Buckeyes) and fudge. I am also in the process of trying to recreate my grandma's cushaw pie. We have found at least three different recipes for it that she gave to others. So I am making one and taking notes on it and then trying another. This last time I combined a little bit of each recipe and it came out pretty close. I only have two more batches of cushaw to get it right. I think I need to find another cushaw.
smiley_bethAs far as the cookie exchange goes, I have had a cookie/brownie recently that was amazing. You know how I feel about dark chocolate, but this one was good anyway. It had a dark chocolate brownie bottom with a Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie on top. I will have to see if I can get the recipe. She reportedly used the darkest chocolate she could. I'm not so sure about that.
waerickAlright, I've got it. I've said if I can find a good job in Dayton, we would move back. Maybe I need to modify that. How much money is in the cake business? If Beth could support the family making cakes (and take care of the kids and house) we can move as well :)
all_gods_childrenI agree, with Buckeyes being my favorite and fudge. :) I do like the muddy buddy mix too...love peanut butter!!! I hope you soon have some baby goats!
waerickI forgot about fudge!!!!! That is probably #1 on my list. It's just so easy to pop one in your mouth everytime you pass.
tommyswifeOk so barring anyone taking ill or severing a limb, we should be there. Sunday the 30th, right? So what is miss Rosie into nowadays?
smiley_bethYou have more confidence in me than I do myself. I was thinking about the cakes. I could handle making birthday and event cakes (need some classes first-can't do flowers) but you would have to do the weddings. I don't think I could handle the stress.
mockinbirdThe jeans were alittle tight yesterday morning. I blame it on the half price Halloween candy. Now the holidays have reared their heads and I feel that my jeans and I have little hope of meeting up again until sometime in Jan. Jessi makes some killer lemon squares that always make an appearance about this time. For me personally, it's all about the pumpkin pie.
heatheronthehillI'm glad you liked the article! It was such an interesting study!
waerickGet with that guy you ADORE and see if you can work out a time to get together again... please.
waerick... and Thank You. :)
jayya know we need to get u and Ben and the kids together. We haven't seen your guys place yet, and the girls would love the goats, is there a good time to come visit?
lefantstafyep. olivia is her sister.
jayI told Ange. She thinks its great, and I love the coffee idea!
amcmichaelwe want boers. no bucks, I am so excited to be able to maybe get some from you all!!

Ahhhh, November... 11-01-08 10:15am EST
I love this month...

The Lord has blessed me to celebrate the following this month:

- The birth of 2 of my 3 favorite people

- My spiritual 21st birthday

- The best holiday ever

- Cranberries

Thank you God!

I forgot to mention how much I love "falling back!" My body immediately adjusts and I love it.

Shooting pumpkins with my Honey was very fun today.

Riding the tractor and getting a jump on Christmas lights (while the temperature was 70) was also good.

heatheronthehillThanksgiving is my favorite holiday too, and the 20th is my "spiritual birthday". :) Happy for all of your blessings!
all_gods_childrenLove November too! :) We finally have rain!!!!
lorileighFresh cranberries--yummy!
kellyahhh.... this month i get to see some of my favorite peo[ple|neicesWHOdon'thavePLEOyet] :)
kellysome of my highlighting worked... but obviously i need someone to shoe me how people sometimes highlight words that aren't pleo connections... either way i'm excited for seeing everyone ~ highlighted or not.
curlieOooh... cranberries. Sounds like a great month all around!
whipsmilehehe, oh I am. :-)
stu192Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and I hope one day to get to enjoy "falling back" again when the kids internal clock doesn't go off so early! ;) You have a great point about the Christmas lights! Tomorrow: vote, get out Christmas lights!
cruisingmomThanks for getting out of the political box and guessing. I'll reveal when I get home...I'm going to go stand in line now.
amcmichaelshooting pumpkins!!! Thats a great idea! We have a few and I have been wanting to have some target practice!! I'll suggest that to Stewy!! Hope you are doing well!
sallyanneI'm so glad you are coming to hscamp next year! You'll love it :)
lisareavesI love November too - and I love having my girls home to share it with! What did you shoot pumpkins with?
cmayI have never heard of "Classical Conversations"????
grannyA loving family. What riches! And laughed to read of your purple kittens -- any photos?
cmayThanks for the info!
whipsmileI've heard of people doing that...I would just wonder if i could properly budget that big of a hit in the pocketbook at one time. But there is something to be said for KNOWING there is food in the freezer and not wondering where the next meal will come from.

Good luck with that!!
smiley_bethI too love November. And so far we have been blessed with a beautiful one. Can't believe my Hannah will be two tomorrow. I love that you keep in mind your spiritual birthday. I know mine too.
waerickIt was really sad Saturday, Caleb went outside to ride his bike (it was the first time he had been out that day). He ran back inside very upset and said he couldn't find Lug. He started asking many questions and it was obvious he just didn't understand. He cried for a few minutes, but was able to go out and ride his bike with a huge frown.
waerickI am honored and puzzled both that you look up to us. You two seem to have it all together.
waerickYou are too kind AND too hard on yourself.
all_gods_childrenI'll definitely be praying!!! ((HUGS))
sprmomthanks for the info, I can only drink diet pop and some of it has aspartame in it, I only use splenda in the house, but I won't drink anything with that in it and see if my symptoms improve, thanks!! and I appreciate the prayers!
heatheronthehillthanks for the hot cocoa tip! I'm going to try that! :)
whipsmileyou're closest book to you cracks me up! :-)
tommyswifePraying!!! :)

A colorful day... 10-10-08 10:59pm EST
We purchased our wood stove last week and one of the best things about it was that we were blessed with two very large boxes as a result. The farmers up the road also dropped off two very adorable barn kittens last week. They were quite wild when they got here, but the girls have done a great job taming them.

Well, today I needed to do some "real" cleaning and I took the girls out in the backyard with the boxes and lots of paints and brushes. Ben cut doors and windows out for them. To say that "they enjoyed it" would be an understatement and I enjoyed giving the floors a good scrubbing.

A few hours later they came in, covered with paint and headed for a bath. On the way Willow said, in a very matter of fact tone, as if she had just completed an important task, "We painted the kittens."

I said, "Oh you did?" She replied "yup." Just as if I had asked if she had fed them.

I looked on the back porch and found a very small, dumbfounded, gray, white and very purple kitten. I have yet to see what the other one looks like...
splitmesoupha! that's great. I used to rubber-stamp my dog all the time, she didn't seem to mind.
matermagistraLOL! You must get pictures to document this story for when she is grown!!

P.S. I hear you guys are going to hs campout next year too. I am so excited at the prospect of having a week to sit and visit with you!
lefantstafthis is a great story.
heatheronthehillOh my! This is HILARIOUS! How fun! :)
green_gourmetHOW funny!
whipsmilepurple kittens sound adorable.
smiley_bethDid you take pictures?! Poor little kitten.
cruisingmomThankfully they did not paint the dogs. That would be an enormous washing job.
cmayHey! Purple is one of my favorite colors...maybe not on a kitty though.:-)
all_gods_children~nice~! A wood stove! Oh Dear, painted kittens! That's too funny. Very sweet they didn't want the new additions to feel left out! ;o)
angie12To funny!! Raising girls is SOOOO much fun!
ashleybthat is awesome!! maybe she'll become a make-up artist for animals :) thats a story for the journal so you can always remember it
tommyswifeWe are doing the annual Conover Pumpkin Carving today with fall soups and birthday celebration for Jason and myself. Tommy and I really want to go to a Japenese Steakhouse maybe Sunday night or Monday night. So we will see. I am excited about the new job. I think the Lord was truly with me and knew that job was not what was best for us. Fed Ex is a good company and we may be entering at a good time because of the stock prices being lower. Fed Ex's is still 65 dollars a share but that is better than entering at 90 dollars a share and losing all that. So I am opptimistic about this. We can maybe ride out the housing market a little and then settle in a bigger house in Hilliard if it all is the Lord's plan for us. I was really excited about being closer to you but I have just resolved to make more of an effort to bug you more often and have homeschool farm learning days for JT! :) Boy oh boy am I wordy today. Sorry! ;0)
whipsmile:-) A dog as a gift is amazing!
cmayI noticed someone said raising girls is so much fun, well raising boys is..um..fun too, if you like bugs and frogs and bugs and legos and bugs and bionicles and bugs and...
The other day John was in Lukes room which had bunches of lady bugs in the window, he caght them and put them in his bus. So I looked at his bus, which he had left to go and find more bugs and the lady bugs must of decided that was their stop. :o)
tommyswifeYou made me cry! :) But thank you for your beautiful words! I, of course, feel just the same about you! Here's to the next decade of birthdays for us! :)
smiley_bethThank you! Thank you! Thank you! What a sweet gift from such a sweet friend. Hopefully we can connect via phone soon when children aren't needing our attentuion sometime soon for a good gab session. Love you girl!
cruisingmomLove ya!
sprmomStacy, the cake was beautiful and oh, so good, I brought some of the choc home, and already ate it!! thanks so much! hereis a pic, if I can do this! Bryan & Amber
heatheronthehillThank you so much for the yogurt/crock pot link! I am so excited! Two of my favorite things! :)
cmayYou did a great job on the cake, Stacey!! It is absolutely beautiful!
mockinbirdThank you so much for the kind things you said. Heaven knows I have not been the perfect mother but I am grateful that somehow my three children seemed to always get along well and genuinely enjoy each others company. I think they take after their father.
whipsmileI just read what you wrote on Mom's blog. I guarantee you made her cry. :-)

Those were very, very kind words and I thank you for them as well. :-)
tommyswifeI kept forgetting, but...I finally mailed you a check! Sorry it took so long! Hope everyone is feeling better. Beautiful work on the cake up there! Hope Halloween was fun for your little girls. We had a lot of fun dressing up and JT now loves the song Ghostbusters and Monster Mash.
