This post has been brought to you by Mike, although inadvertently. I might also be repeating myself, but considering we're all on PLEONAST, that's not a problem.
Anyway, one day several years ago, Mike and I were talking about who knows what (most likely some nerdy topic), and he mentioned something that's stuck in my head ever since. He said that we all need fans. Granted, we live in the South, so for approximately five months out of the year, we do indeed need fans. But of course, that's not what he meant. What we all need are people who cheer for us, who support us through good and bad, and who care about whether we stand or fall.
My mom described it a different way--she asked once who fills me up. (The very first person I thought of, of course, was her :).)
This all came to mind because of how many cheerleaders I've had lately with my health goals. Last night I reached my halfway mark--50 pounds--and actually went past it by 0.6 lbs. The support has been overwhelming and extremely appreciated. I know I couldn't do it without everyone who's made a point to cheer me on.
So, my question today is...who are your fans? Who fills you up? Who shares "God's love in skin" with you? Here's your chance to honor the people in your life who support you and cheer you. Feel free to tell stories, to link folks, to applaud! We all need the inspiration and encouragement of hearing positive stories. So please share! |
