Mr. Berry's dermatology appt. - bump on head looked at it; had to make another appt. for removal (he didn't like that - another trip!) I'm glad I don't have those. Sorry, girls that you didn't get my genes for that one!
Mr. Berry's face changing spot - re-frozen -ooooohhhhhh! and brrrrrrr! Now blistered.
Stopped at sam's club - they've redone the outside and we are guessing they are trying to look "upscale" in a big wally world type way. They didn't have those calamari tomatoes I love, so I settled for little grape ones. Ate two little quiches (they always do those handouts at dinner time, but we didn't buy them). Did buy a box of pizzas as a "drop-off" meal for some folks who've been under the weather. I think they are doing better, health-wise.
I finally got Mr. Berry to try dinner at panera bread!!!! Almost as good as April's breakfast. We had to eat and be done by 8:15 pm since we have to fast for blood testing tomorrow (just routine checking). But we got home in time for hot chocolate. Watched an old version of Of Mice and Men - depressing. I like happy movies better.
We were welcomed by a dead squirrel on the porch. No photos - not cute; Jefferson (the cat) was having dinner; Molly was in the house, when we opened the door she came out and stole it. Mr. B said give it back to its rightful hunter. Sorry Kyle, the cat had better luck than you.
those little moisture absorbing packets will be handy (in my opinion) during the winter snow season (I suspect they'd be helpful for smelly shoes too :)
I really love my three girls; it will be LOVELY to have them all home at the same time!!!!!!! I'm filled with anticipation :)
but I do like going through blog by blog and fb page by fb page to catch up.
All the highlighted names are gone, but there are still little dots.
Oh well.
Off to get dressed, WW meeting today, Mr. Berry has a second removal of a face spot (too much sun in early days), and I'm going to collect more stuff to send to WV with my "doing a good thing" young neighbor - I'm reading Scaling Down - Living Large in a Small Space.
Our space is not getting smaller, but there is getting to be more space in it! I can see the attic floor.
Have a wonderful day, week, month, until I post again.
two more things I wanted to post:
Found Money Game update for 2008: $12.27
not quite an accurate count because all money found when with her goes into her "petty cash," not our jar. Proverbs 13:11 :
Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.
Second Thing (this is a good one!)
You know those little moisture absorbing things in medicine and vitamin bottles? Well, they are great to put into your boots or shoes in the winter (and probably sneakers in the summer) to absorb moisture!!! Try it; you'll be impressed. Save them in a small jar in the medicine cabinet (I used a bouillon cube plastic jar).
i have something similar on my eyebrow... it's wierd. at first i thought it was a pimple, but it's been there for3 weeks, hasn't "pimplized" (or whatever you might call it) so I'm wondering if it might be like one of dad's things. i'm going to wait until xmas to see what happens to it.
I long ago gave up trying to read "dotted blogs"! A gold feature is the ability to "Clear Dots". I hope the spot results comes back clear for hubby. Have a wonderful December!
I have 44 cents! Yeah, not such a big deal as I haven't been looking very hard on those rare occasions when I'm off campus. Still, that's two dimes and 24 pennies to add to the collection! :)
I got your email; I was planning on calling after I leave the W's house for the Wydros' study tonight. If you have a chance in-between sales, give me a call on the W's phone because I wanted to run a few ideas by you before I call or anything.
Yes, we knew Cassie and were glad she also decided to go to FC. Hope you can get down there. Lectures are a good time to go since it's nice and warm in FL and so cold in PA.
"people like you getting lasik"...whatever do you mean, "people like me"? Old???!
It was a practical choice for me. My eyeglasses were incredibly thick and uncomfortable, and my lifestyle at the time included a lot of camping with Girl Scouts. It was a very good choice for me. And, really, for as much of a life-altering change as it is, lasik is very inexpensive.
I'm giving and receiving lots of hugs and kisses ... and our big girl has potty trained this past week! :) Tonight when she went to bed she said "see you to-marmee!" Cute slip. :) I'm in love!! Glad you had your girls home and will have them home again.
Good thoughts down below. I took a DC course many years ago with the kids' dad. It was pretty good. I still have the books somewhere. I should get them out and re-read and have Andrew read them when he's not so busy with school. :)
Yes, now that it's coming together even more "tightly", and since I found out about when they'd be ready, I decided to tell my little secret. :) I agree with you, on using too many commas, because I tend to do that, too. Like just then. I think I write like I hear myself expressing it if I was talking. Have a great day yourself!
I did a lot of shopping does that count? It was the first day that the green nose, bad headache, bathroom visiting, grumpy Hatchers, that I have had in almost two weeks. Had to replensh.
That cow was very warm ... I liked it. :) When a cow moves it's skin moves over that rigid backbone ... did you know that?? That's when we almost fell off!! It was fun to make those memories with my little grandbaby girls.
Hey, I had checked the site over the weekend and the results were up then. I just rechecked and they are there. You have to click on Teams and results on the page I gave you then from there click on 2008 results. Adam's team is Legends Plus.
Oh, and the Ragnar thing wasn't an FC event. Some of the folks on the team weren't on the actual cross country team. It was open to anyone. That's the division Adam's team was in..male open. Since it wasn't an event of the cross country team it wouldn't necessarily be on the FC website.
Thanks for calling me today -- not only was it good just to hear your voice, but thank you for the picture advice and love. Can't wait to see you in eight days. :)
That's funny that you mentioned Proverbs! We actually just spent the last 2 or 3 months doing something like that at a weekly Bible study at the Wydro's house. Had we not discussed it so recently, I would have enjoyed leading a class like that. Although it like we're going to be studying Nehemiah for the all-day study, I will keep a "word study" type series in mind, perhaps for a future adult class at our congregation in East Orange. :)
Reepacheep was Micah's old car (little white Saturn), which someone gave to him (Jady, who had had it passed down to him by an aunt who was getting something better many years ago), which Micah later passed on to his dad. Reepacheep has now passed on to the junk yard.
I had some ideas for a new post which I posted later at the end of this, but first that video below is really something. As I watched this uninhibited guy (well maybe only uninhibited in front of a private video without real people in his location and time watching him) look totally foolish and funny, it made me think of our President-elects questionaire for potential government employees that I heard about yesterday on the radio. From what I understand, former Senator Obama is asking if you have ever sent embarassing emails or videos. I think this one comes under that description. Do you think that fellow has any idea how far his face may travel? Then again, perhaps he is thrilled by that thought of fame!
My other posting thoughts: I'm beginning to read Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People." She and she have recommended it in the past. Very interesting and very applicable words. I'm still in the first chapter - the 2nd reading - because I'm following Carnegie's advice for getting the most out of the book.
Here is one thought from the first chapter: "Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him strive to justify himself." The real-life examples Carnegie uses to illustrate this concept are rather mind-stunning. Al Capone is quoted, "I have spent the best years of my life giving people the lighter pleasures, helping them have a good time, and all I get is abuse, the existence of a hunted man." Amazing the different perspective one takes when talking about self.
Carnegie goes on and gives explanations from B.F. Skinner's experiments with animals comparing rewarding good behavior and punishing bad behavior. He has not gotten into the idea of self-inflicted consequences of bad behavior - Carnegie is discussing punishment such as criticism from others.
Two of many Proverbs thoughts that came to my mind: 17:10 "A rebuke goes deeper into one who has understanding than a hundred blows into a fool." and 27:5,6 "Better is open rebuke than love that is concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy."
His examples of bad and great leaders and how they received criticism, as well as how they used, or didn't inflict, criticism on others, are a mini-course in history.
Carnegie ends chapter 1 with his Principle 1: "Don't criticize, condemn, or complain." Bible thoughts from me: Proverbs 16:21,24,27 "The wise in heart will be called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. A worthless man digs up evil, while his words are as a scorching fire."
I know I have sought to explain away my less-noble behavior, my judging-hurting words and wrong attitudes using the "But..." word to justify myself way too often. I need to watch myself to not get self-righteous, to remind myself of the Pharisee and the Publican in the temple praying. I need to not be a complainer or a "constant dripping of contentiousness." Prov 14:16 A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless."
I also need to catch people doing wonderful little and big things and then recognize them - Prov 11:30 "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who is wise wins souls."
I pray that I will seek and work hard to reach out to others to tie strings of love and caring between me and them so that I will truly love their souls and live the love that is Christ.
Actually, the guy's video on his youtube pages says something to the effect of "You may think this is a horrible and stupid video of myself to be posting, but I've been contact by Geico Insurance and they will be using part of it in an ad... and now I've paid off my car with my 'stupid' earnings!"
