They left yesterday. We had such a nice visit. Franklin and Andrew played full throttle all day everyday. We are so sad to see them go and I hate to think of how long it will be before we're together again. Moments after they left for the airport, Franklin went out to the playscape and just sat and cried. He loves his cousin so much.
In case it wasn't obvious from her videos, they have some precious children.
I can't wait to post the pictures she took of the family.
So funny!
My baby is 18 months now and getting so BIG. Not planning on anymore wee ones in this family, so every lb. and inch is kinda sad for me.
He has a runny nose and Molly isn't feeling real hot either. They took turns moaning and groaning last night. Then Franklin had a bad dream, so I'm lacking sleep. What's new? *YAWN*
well, even though there hasn't been much done on your house, i still think yours will be finished before mine! it is exciting but don't you think it is overwhelming too???
Great pictures! Looks like you guys had so much fun! I can't wait until Ben gets a little bigger so we can do family camping trips without worrying about him playing in the fire. :)
High:
Colorado Bend State Park is so pretty and only about 2 hours away.
We chose a campsite right next to the river and the canyon. There was also a great tree right next to us that Franklin called the tarantula tree. It had limbs in all directions close to the ground. Plenty of climbing fun!
Low:
While setting up camp we realize that the tent is not in the box.
Matt drives 30 minutes to a store that thankfully has 2 itty-bitty tents for sale.
High:
Gorgeous weather and peaceful environment.
Low:
Upon returning from the tent store we see that we have a flat tire. We have no spare.
We call my Dad (who is the most helpful person you will ever meet if I haven't mentioned that before) and he starts a search for a spare that he can buy and bring out to us. We have no cell service so calling my dad meant a $10 collect call.
High:
A campfire, roasting turkey/soy dogs and marshmallows, watching the stars, etc. General camping fun with the kids.
Low:
I forgot to bring the lantern. Thankfully the full moon and the campfire gave plenty of light. I also forgot tennis shoes for Molly. She tromped around in slip-ons and was not real comfortable needless to say.
High:
Early morning hiking with perfect weather and beautiful terrain. There were many deer and tons of armadillos.
Low:
I left Gram with my parents. It was the first time overnight and he cried inconsolably from 12AM-3ish.
High:
These awesome falls are located at the park.
Low: By the time we got the tire fixed it was too late and we were too pooped to drive to the the trail and hike the 3 miles to see the falls.
Thankfully there weren't many more lows. There was not a donut to be found for our van anywhere in Austin so Dad sent a fix-it guy from a nearby town. I'm thankful we had a safe outing although it was a rather expensive camping trip.
i'm sorry but i laughed about the tent not being in the box! that is something i thought only i would do!!! sounds like the highs definitely outweighed the lows, except for Gram of course.
Definitely something to laugh about in a few years, but it sure sounds like a beautiful trip. We called all of our family trips with my Mom/Dad and siblings "National Lampoon's" trips...seriously, things went wrong, very wrong, but we laugh at them all now and really enjoy the memories. :)
that picture is gorgeous! just seeing that would make everything worth it! makes me want to go camping! i wonder if the marshmallows canceled out the soy dogs???? ;)
Aww...LOL...stressful but awesome!!! Our trip wouldn't have been possible if not for you!! So thank you. Let me know if Monday night will work for us to go out...if you are up for it. HA HA Love ya! Thanks again. Glad y'all had a goood time despite the tire and tents.
If the tent was not in the box, where was it? We need a follow-up post on that.
Your mom and dad should write a post on what life was like back in town searching for donuts and baby whisperers...
That sounds fun. We should go over Thanksgiving! Or maybe just sleep outside one night on your parents' property? We could bring our tent...(it's in the box...:D)
We enjoyed having Gram here until the 12:15 AM - 3:15AM crying spell. I'm too old to go without my sleep. I was worthless the next day. We still love him to pieces. :D
I wish I could get Alfred to go camping. His mantra is, "Why would I want to sleep on the ground when I could sleep in a bed?" *Sigh* City boys are so hard to deal with sometimes. :)
