These bumper stickers that say 'Gas was 1.4~ when Bush took office!'
You know what? A couple years before that gas was HALF of that. I was paying about 70 cents per gallon.
So SOMETHING started driving the price up BEFORE Bush took office.
Betcha won't see that on a bumper sticker.
Perhaps just because it's too long for a normal sticker.
Or maybe, it's inconvenient. It's easy to bash Bush, but I don't see how he has any real control over gas prices.
The other day (maybe a week ago) gas prices were going down (and they still are) and I heard on the news that OPEC was having a fit and trying to come up with a way to keep the price of oil from dropping.
We should dispwn OPEC. Or maybe just pwn them by drilling the crap out of our available resources.
And not sell them any. Period. No oil exports. No oil imports.
It's not the president who sets oil prices. It's the idiots we buy it from.
UPDATE: This teacher should be fired. Beaten. Er, no, maybe just fired.
Can anybody say "supply and demand"? When gas hit $4.00, people cut way back. Way back! Suddenly there were no more supply problems. Then people got scared about the economy and cut back further. At under $2.00, the demand may increase, and of course China will continue to increase their demand, so this drop in price probably isn't permanent, but it's all part of the way the market works. 12th grade Government and Economics class... people need to remember.
I left this same message on Mrs. Sanford's blog concerning that video and I'll leave the same one here to save time lol.......That teacher was totally out of line. As an educator in a public school she has no place to be berating, much less discussing, someone's political choice (especially a young child). However, when I saw this post I went over to youtube and just did a quick search to see if there were videos of McCain supporters who betrated those who voted for Obama and there are quite a few as well. This kind of thing goes both ways. Very tasteless tho....
And as far as Bush, it's just not "liberals" who dislike them. Repubs too. Everyone dislikes him. Couldn't disagree more. There were numerous attacks made by McCain supporters against Obama voters that I had never heard of until I looked them up on youtube. On the other hand when crazy people from Blinn College in Bryan decide they want to make up a story that an Obama supporter robbed them and carved a B in their cheek, then it is all over the news. Nevermind the fact that it was a lie. So no I don't think the only time you hear something bad about supporters was when they were Republicans.
