Wanted to Share This 11-14-08 03:39am EST

I wanted to share a photographer that deserves recognition, someone who's work I admire, so I thought I would share this man especially in honor of Veteran's Day this week. He is now a photographer for the New York Times and has taken some extraordinarily touching photographs. He spent a year with the Marines stationed at Aurora's Buckley Air Force Base who were called to notify families of the deaths of their loved ones in Iraq.

This is an article in the Rocky Mountain News about the marines he photographed. Final Salute It's a bit long but well worth the read.
This is Todd's website
ToddHeisler.com To view the Final Salute series, click on the M in the menu and the gallery is at the bottom. Have a box of tissues handy.

jestersncourtThat is a great gallery that is quite powerful. Thanks for posting it!
queenbeetleLOL, That is Jesse. It's a picture Frani took years ago. The 6th works for me. I've met Jeanie, she came to your bridal shower that we had for you at our house. It's been a long time since I seen her, actually that maybe the last time I saw her or was she at Sandy's shower a couple of years back. I didn't know that you kept in touch with her. Anyway, is there anything I can bring? Are kids and husbands coming too or are you doing like you did last time and just girls? Let me know if I can help in any way!
queenbeetleThat's cool, that's sort of what I thought we'd do. I agree, it's fun to just be friends and hang out with each other. Brandon and Jimmy will probaby be Christmas shopping, we just haven't figured out Clayton, little stink still refusses to take a bottle. I'll probably just have to play it by ear the closer we get there. I'll bring something, don't know what yet. I need to get Thanksgiving done first, then I'll cross that bridge. I'm looking forward to it too! :)

This is just too cute!! 09-27-08 03:06pm EST
sunshinelove05I love this video! It cracks me up everytime I see it . . . even when I am watching it over and over!
trumanHello silly girl!
trumanPost already!
queenbeetleThanks, I stressed over that costume. Another get together sounds great, I had thought about doing one and just never got around to it. The only thing that I know is going on is on Dec. 12. I couldn't come on that night. Let me know if I can help out in any way. How did the carpet cleaner work for you guys?
queenbeetleMy vote would be for the 6th. Brandon will be on vacation the next week and we are hoping to get some Christmas shopping done. But if the 13th works better for everyone else, it will work for me!

Yearbook Yourself 09-27-08 03:16am EST
I have seen this everywhere on various people's Pleo, Facebook, and MySpace so I thought I would give it a try as well.
I put together a collage of some I did from yearbookyourself.com

Yearbook Yourself

I think 1960, even with the glasses, is my favorite. It's classy. The first one I had a good laugh at, the last one is actually the year I graduated lol. I love the hair style in 98! The rest I found pretty humorous.
alextoo funny. btw, nice new website!

My weekend 09-26-08 02:37pm EST
Though still not feeling good, Saturday we went to the Boy Scout reservation for their campout. We didn't camp Friday night, but just went Saturday for the fun. We had a nice 2 1/2 mile walk around the lake, cooked over the campfire, fished, just overall had a really fun time.
Monday he had a field trip to Huber Orchard in Indiana. That was fun. They got to see the apple packing facility from how they pick them, to cold storage (really cold in there) washing, picking out the bad apples and boxing them for selling. He got to hear Granny Smith talk about Johnny Appleseed and then play on the jumpee, slide, go through the rope maze and visit the petting zoo. There is tons of stuff to do there, great place to take the kids. I know after both days, I had some nice exercise!
Here are some pictures from both days. Sorry if you have to scroll, let me know, I have a widescreen monitor so I never know how far I should go over with the pictures so others won't have to scroll.

sarai_31Those are such great pictures!!
poppins_momthose were my favorites too. I loved the hotdog one because the stick is about is big as he is lol.
poppins_momthanks!
sar_bearSuch great pics!! Those apples look very tasty! :)
poppins_momI know, and those were the bad ones that don't look perfect and they end up using for cider. The good ones look even better. We got to take a few golden delicious home with us. They were very crisp and fresh. I wouldn't buy them there though, they were 9.99 for a 1/2 bushel!
