*Pant* *Gulp* *Wipe sweat from brows* 11-19-08 08:07am CST
*Whew*

I signed on today and there was, like, 15 seconds where I didn't have Gold! *involuntary body shakes*

There were all these foreign things on the screen, like something for baby products and I couldn't leave a comment and see what I was writing after one sentence. It was...it was...horrible. *shudders*

I know, I know! I didn't realize my subscription was out.
I fixed it ASAP.
Angry Turnip got my $18 and now I am back to Gold

*hands are still shaking*

That was close. *phew*

breathe Jess, breathe. It'll be okay.

scbrewer:)
onelittlecandleI'm glad you survived. :-)
mister_cTruth us your glad it happened because now you have something to post about. (And my sturnum still pops funny when I stretch my back.)
mini_lizzieso glad you made it through that terrible time. remember, if you need to talk i am here! ;) well only a few states away, but i'll listen! ;)
mini_lizzieand don't be jealous, bc of this weather, too many people move here for winters and it is claustraphobic! :(
sarahmarcelleGold is good!
tablol :)
kermithaha, Gold is always advertised on radio to be always be worth the investment. ;)
ninja_penguinhahaha
lyndie*snicker*
curlieHAHA
phyllisophical_mom I guess I need to be thankful I am not gold, so I don't know what I'm missing...and will not go thru the emotions you just went thru! ha
DessertDivaIsn't it weird that "GOLD" is actually GOLDENROD
shellmanI am glad you struggled through your brief brush with the unwashed masses.
mockinbirdI rather enjoy my baby toy pictures.
lefantstafi wonder how long it would have taken me to figure out I didnt have gold...
amy_szaboI'm glad you like Cold Beverages! I figured if anyone would it would be you!

Saw it on Friday 11-18-08 09:31am CST
I will say it again. Daniel Craig = Best James Bond Ever.

Quantum of Solace was awesome! The openeing credits were my favorite Bond Opening ever, and I love the song.

But really, I'll keep it this short and just say that,

If 007 wants your motorcycle, then 007 gets your motorcycle. :-)

make your own judgement as to whether or not you want to see this, but I had a good time at the show.

tu_madrei've never gotten into james bond movies before...but i like daniel craig as an actor
mini_lizziei'm glad you liked it. all the reviews i have heard are horrible! and of course you like the opening, the white stripes did it! :) they are in my top 5 for sure. :)
amy_szaboTristan played a set before John Butler opened for G. Love. She was really good, but I had no idea who she was till G. Love brought her back out to play "Beautiful."
fordfabulousI loved the last one, but this one disapointed
mill2093Hey, Bible study tonight? Any interest?
mister_cThanks. I thought it was funny that mom was excited about have two children with the master's.

Friday's are days filled with hope of sleeping in the next day...I love sleep, and not having headaches, and caffeine. 11-14-08 09:02am CST
You know, I think that I can type my username and password faster than I can type my real name, including the motion with the tab key.

There is something wrong with that.

............

Anyway, I loved reading what the closest book to everyone was in the last entry. It tells me who was at home and who was at work! And it is telling that there were SEVERAL of you who had a Bible near you.

....................

Chicken Thursday was a big success last night. I made Salsa Chicken (taco seasoning sprinkled on top of the chicken and then salsa poured all over it. Bake for 25-30 minutes, sprinkle some cheese on top and there you have it!) I also made Spanish rice and quesadillas as sides.

It was pretty good!

...................

In other news:

Christmas List:
Dad - check
Mom - half way done
BBG - check
Allison - have an idea, haven't gotten it yet
Josh - NO CLUE (give me a list hoser!)
Terra - have an idea, haven't gotten it yet
Jill - check
Nick - have an idea, haven't gotten it yet. (Nick is Allison's BF)

It is a thin Christmas this year, these are the only ones I can afford to get gifts for, which makes me sad. I love giving gifts. I normally get something for her, her husdand, and her. And a few others.
But alas, I cannot this year.

BUT...
I ordered my Holiday cards. :-) Those will be sent out within the next month.

I am so happy that it's Friday. So happy. So very happy.
I get to sleep in tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day and weekend!!

tommyswifeYour holiday card from last year was one of my favs!
sarahmarcelleYour title is EXACTLY how I feel about Fridays. Even after Wednesday there, the hope of the weekend is beginning to glimmer.
sarahmarcelleOh, and I also make Salsa chicken just like you do! I got my recipe from her! It uses chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder instead of taco seasoning! Yumm!
mister_cI will try to work on a list and give it to Mom and Dad. They are coming over tomorrow.
holly_annMy christmas list is sadly small this year too. I love buying presents as well :( I can't even give out cards this year which is a HUGE bummer. Maybe I'll come up with a clever email thing. Hm. Next year should be better, I hope.
whipsmileor you can do like you did for my birthday and make handmade cards!
mini_lizziei have a recipe that uses similar methods to your chicken however you bake them on top of red potatoes that have the taco seasoning on them and put a dab of sour cream. bake them in foil pouches and they are super moist and oh so yummy. :)
mini_lizzieit will be ok that there is nobody to console you at that time. nobody will know what you are going through, what will be most important is to know if someone is there. i told her i would sleep on her couch if she needed! it is just what you do. i am still to this day, however, unconsolable about my grandpa. i will never get over that, although i know he is better off where he is, i am selfish when it comes to him!
DessertDivaI have made salsa chicken before - it's REALLY good for you. Very few calories.

I haven't started Christmas shopping. That's what Black Friday is for.
joeooh! ooh! can I have the same thing you got me last year!? ;D
sarahmarcelleYeah, you can just sprinkle the seasonings on. Eye balling it is super easy!
tu_madrenot recently...but yes i have...
turtle_girlAwww...thanks! :)
mockinbirdWhat! We're all at Josh's at 8am to start framing out the basement. Arn't you coming???
mister_cOK so sleep in. Then you'll be there by 10am?
mockinbirdI feel I have slipped into an alternate universe. I am getting recipes from you!!
marlaYou can DO stuff for people for Christmas! :)

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who starts Christmas shopping early :)

AMEN to the title, too.
neeneeI think our Christmas will be thinner this year too. I'm ok with that, since our family keeps expanding and I don't know what to get for people!! ;)
mister_cMom now has my Christmas list.
thrudahazei am not ready to think about that C day

(i have mixed feelings about the blue. i think it makes me look more edgy which i like but the color is too dull)

Grab a Book 11-12-08 09:19am CST
Saw this on Facebook and really liked it. Please play along. (You may edit if you feel it is necessary.)

Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 56. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the next two to five sentences here. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one - pick the CLOSEST:

From Business Decisions That Changed Our Lives:

"That's a catchy way to approach it. But what happened was this: as war spread over Europe, and as America keyed up its defense efforts, the Federal Housing Administration wrote Section 603 into its regulations, and the War Production Board set priorities on private housing. Four months after Pearl Harbor, the War Production Board stopped all private construction not serving essential war needs, and a month later, in May 1942, Section 608 was added to teh National Housing Act to stimulate the contrusction of low-cost rental housing for war workers."

mockinbirdAw man! I stepped in a evil villan! Don't you hate when that happens. Stupid dog. Oh, right! blame the dog! Hey Deputy...are you o.k.? MUST....GET....REVENGE! (from The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby)
ninja_penguinMy psage 56 is a map of the Exodus. It has no sentences. :(
tommyswifeI have found your previous blog interesting and I am going to have to ponder it today! Oh bother, I was hoping to a have a thinking free day. Now, like Winnie the Pooh, I am going to have to go to my thinking spot, bang my head and say, "Think, Think, Think." :)
tommyswifeBTW- My book page 56.

From "Stuart Little" by E.B. White

"A direct hit!" said Stuart. "Thank heaven! Well, there's a good night's work done." And he threw a kiss toward Margalo's sleeping form. It was a tired little mouse that crawled into bed a few minutes later-tired but ready for sleep at last. Copyright 1945 by Harper Collins
prov3110"No, these are jeans. I only have jeans - and one pair of chinos. I don't consider them pants. Pants are dressier."
"You were wearing jeans in the kitchen?"
nickomundoNow, you'll create a soothing, wave-like background graphic.
1 Choose Insert > Timeline > Layer, and name the new layer dark blue wave.
2 Drag the layer to the bottom of the layer stack
3 Lock all the other layers.

nickomundoShe must rock if she's reading Tufte. And I think hers is the most amusing.
whipsmileYeah, her's made me laugh. :-)
isabeau_danjou"I have been working up here in Carthage South Dakota for nearly two weeks now. I arrived up here three days after we parted in Grand Junction, Colorado. I hope you made it back to Salton City without too many problems." (From "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer)
whipsmileand yes, she does in fact rock, very much...and it had nothing to do with Tufte.
madtomkiddYeah, tufte is a bit full of himself, but interesting, nonetheless.
madtomkiddThese were all stacked, so here are my 3:
"Mr Lever, the proprietor, of course had disappeared in convulsions of courtesy long before. It would be exaggerative, indeed, irreverent, to say that he ever positively appeared again." - The Father Brown Omnibus, G.K. Chesterton.

"The sunshine was warm and the air hazy. Only a little cold was around Laura's feet, near the thin, dry ice at the lake's edge." The Long Winter, Laura Ingalls Wilder

"Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, 'Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.'" - Exodus 4:14
amy_szabo"With so much aid, effort, and labor and after so many rehearsals and performances, such plays really should succeed. If they do not, those who after so much work give unfinished and distorted performances replete with mistakes and shortcomings, rather than play their parts consummately deserve contempt." (Actor's on Acting)
scbrewer""Though these materials, your product or point of view becomes the focus of discussion in the classroom," it says in another,"...the centerpiece in a dynamic process that generates long term awareness and lasting attitudinal change." The tax cuts that are hampering Americas schools have proved to be a marketing bonanaza for companies like Exxon, Pizza Hut and McDonalds. The money these copanies spend on their "educational" materials is fully tax-deductable."

Fast Food Nation , Page 56
shellman"Occurance: Common." (A Field Guide to Shells of the Texas Coast)
linda_g"You are learning to change your own behavior, but you are not responsible for your child's mental illness. A great deal of mental illness is genetic in nature. It involves a chemical imbalance in the brain. Do not give yourself so much power to think that you somehow caused a genetic event to happen in your child." (from "The Toughlove Prescription" by Ron Zodkevitch)
linda_gIt is very interesting how appropriate that particular text is in my life at this very moment...
holly_annThanks Jessi, you rock too :)
holly_ann:(
whipsmilelinda! ((((((hug)))))))
madtomkiddYup, you got it. I guess Matt was the only one to say something about it.
tu_madre"i sympathize with poor desdemona when she had such a dangerous stream poured into her ear, even by a black man. i suppose that we women are such cowards that we think a man will save us from fears, and we marry him. i know now what i would do if i were a man and wanted to make a girl love me."
-excerpt from dracula
mockinbirdThis is a fun one. I've enjoyed reading all the entrys.
whipsmileit's interesting what is so close to people...and who is at hime and who is obviously at work!
trolleemFor better or worse, our recollections are largely at the mercy of our elaborations; only those aspects of experience that are targets of elaborative encoding processes have a high likelihood of being remembered subsequently. These targets of elaboration are the remains of experience that populate our minds- the bone chips of the dinosaur alluded to by Ulrich Neisser, and the hazy bits and pieces of memory painted by Eran Shakine. ~ from Searching for Memory

Parental coolness, weddings and neck wear 11-10-08 09:20am CST
You know, it's cool when you know
how strong and amazing your parents
can be and then they do something
so other people can see what you've
known for a long time and you just
sit back and go, "Yep. That's my
mom and dad." It's nice when you can
be proud of your parents.

In other news:
Went to a wedding this weekend. Thier
little sister got married. She is my SIL's
youngest and my brother's SIL. Sometimes
in-lawship can be confusing to outsiders.
Anyway, I've known the bride for about 12
years now? Yeah, that sounds right.
I liked the wedding, it was pretty and had
a real 1940's air to the place because it
was in a train station ball room. I dug it.
And I forgot to charge my camera, so no pics.

At the reception I sat with my niece
as well as her two ADORABLE kids
Mal and Sam.

And I have been to all four of the sisters'
weddings. All four were different.

The eldest Terra (my SIL and his wife)
was in a large church.
The second, Tami was outside with a
tent reception.
The third, Tabitha was on a golf course.
(With John Mellancamp across the street in
an open arena concert.)
And the youngest, Tessa was in a train
station ball room.
They were all beautiful and memorable.

What else can I say about the weekend...
I bought my dad a couple of ties. He was
like a little kid picking them out.
A preacher apparently takes his accessories
very seriously. :-)

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend
and an even better week ahead!

isabeau_danjouha, my dad is the same way with his ties too. Preachers have to dress up an awful lot, so it pays to have snazzy neckwear. :)
trolleemlet's get a pic of the ties!
probablyreadingThe wedding sounds cool. I'm still trying to figure out the "SIL" sentence.
whipsmile:-) My sister in law Terra is her oldest sister and she is my brothers sister in law because he is married to Terra.
mill2093I like the cold better than the warm. I can always wear more cloths if it is too cold. Once I get to a certain point, I can't take any more cloths off.
DessertDivaI'm pretty proud of my parents, too.
mill2093I have a lot of insulation.
turtle_girlNo, not SPECIFICALLY, but where the sin seems to overwhelming or unnatural to you that you can't see past it.
mill2093Well, I am also a guy. Guys always seem to stay warm easier than ladies. At least in my observation.
phyllisophical_momWhat a sweet daugher you are to make such a nice comment about your parents. They too must be proud of their daughter!! (Of course I have always liked your parents...ever since I was asked "Where's your husband, Sterling?"
mill2093By the way, I am quite certain that I win in a battle of insulation other than on the top of my head.
lefantstaftabitha wins the sister competition of coolest wedding, IF john mellancamps near by presence was at all appreciated. :)
mister_cI had a long talk with mom about what happened. Yep, our parents totally rock. If there is one lesson I have tried to learn from them, it is self-sacrifice.
mockinbirdThank you
DessertDivaI never thought I was until I start to think about it and now I guess I am. That's what old age will do to ya, I guess. ;)
