Things That "R" Awesome 11-19-08 04:39pm EST
the following is a partial list of things that are Awesome for Andrew today:

my undershirt:
no idea where i got it or what brand it is, but wow is it soft and fuzzy and warm. i'll need to buy a few more of this thing.

Nuts:
i ate some nut this afternoon that was the nut equivolent of Liquid Awesome. no idea what breed or phylum or whatever of nut it was, but it was very yummy. top marks to Mystery Nut.

The Cold:
i love fall/winter. i love cold days. i get to wear flannel and/or wool, i can justify my flannel bed sheets easily, and i get to see my breath. if i lived north of here, i would say i loved the fall foliage, too, which i do, but since florida has very little of it, i will love the memory of fall foliage.

My Jeep:
i love to drive. i love to drive anywhere for any reason. today, i got to pretend to be gallant and drive our lawyer to the airport since her rental car decided to die in the parking garage. i, of course, tried to get her rental to do something for a few minutes first, but it was/is very much dead. poor dead car. awesome saving-the-day andrew, though:)

The English Language:
i had a nice long conversation today with a colleague on how "gruntle" is clearly the antonym of "disgruntled." i would very much like to describe myself today as gruntled. so i shall be.

oh, by the way, if anyone wants to move to Lubbock Texas and likes old people, hit me up. i can find you a job there rather easily i think at a flippin' awesome retirement community.
marlaWhat a great post! Thanks for sharing your positivity, Andrew!
marlaThe great thing is that it's not even fiction! It's historical non-fiction WRITTEN like fiction. Even better.
heather6330And me...I'm awesome!
southerngentlemanThe cold would be better, if it didn't come with its free set of upper-respiratory ailments.

Socks: A Requiem 11-05-08 09:08pm EST
Alas and anon, i must throw away a pair of Socks of Awesome tonight. they are one of my favorite black pairs of socks, and i shall miss them.

they have these cool geometric box things going up the sides in varying shades of grey. yeah, those ones. you've seen them peaking out from under my slacks from time to time, trying to hide my giant pasty white ankles.

i really think i want to bury them in the yard, while a bagpipe plays liltingly off in the distance. it would be appropriate for these socks i think.

we're all just socks, really. worn out, somewhat smelly, somewhat interesting. some of us have holes in us, some of us just have a giant foot holding us up. i wish someday i would find a matching sock. in the great dryer that is our life, my matching sock has proved elusive.

what kind of sock am i? am i argyle? paisley? mercerized cotton, wool, silk? i think i would like to be wool or cotton, maybe plaid or argyle. who knows what i really am.

theeditordefinitely argyle
el_magnificoYeah, I wish now that Ron Paul was still around.
fullofgraceawww....this post is adorable...

Good Drivers Go to Church 10-30-08 11:37am EST
so last night, i had to work late AGAIN, and left the office a little after 7:30. since i was so late, i just went home.
i noticed something profound while i was driving home between 7:30 and 8.

there were a deluge of terrible drivers careening all over the highway all around me, parking on trees and inconveniencing passers-by, slowing me down and annoying the stuffing out of me.

i think there is a very simple explanation for this. natural selection.

as all the intelligent, observant people went into bible study last night, the ratio of morons increased dramatically. so, ipso facto, smart people go to church more then idiots. qed.

alas, i have to count myself in the rabble of retardation, since i let myself not notice what time it was and thereby miss services.

i have been an idiot this week, too. i let my Fountain Pen of Awesome go through the laundry, fortunately not staining anything somehow; i have also mislaid my coffee mug in the office 3 times, in 3 very different spots. there was something else worthy of praise i did, but i have forgotten what that was, too. clearly something is on my mind lately.

so, go to church; it makes you smarter and less likely to die in a car accident.
heather6330You're getting old...that's the problem

Homework Assignment 10-26-08 11:34pm EST
go to www.ted.com and watch 3 videos. you can pick which ones.

ted is a really interesting organization, and alot of the videos are quite good. it bares warning, though, that most of the people in it tend to lean to the left of center politically and are typically humanists. however, that doesn't diminish the value of their presentations; just gives you a perspective to what they say.

the below video is a good example. the speaker is a bit arrogant, very humanist and what he would call a liberal. however, the point of his presentation is fascinating, and gives me a good amount to think about.

i like the fact that he acknowledges that liberals and conservatives are both valuable in a society. good stuff.

now go, and watch some other videos. i highly recommend the theo jansen one.

slimyou selling any macbooks right now?
slimVery little :)
